While HP might not be the first name that springs to mind for SSDs, this model has the specs to make for a solid gaming PC upgrade. Other drives might top our best gaming SSD guide for raw performance but when it comes to PC boot times and game loading times, the likes of this HP model are plenty fast enough.
The HP FX900 Pro Gen4 SSD, to give it its full name, boasts sequential read and write speeds of 7,400MB/s and 6,800MB/s, respectively, making it a decently quick PCIe 4 drive. That said, the drive doesn’t have a fancy design and despite include a graphene cooling layer, it doesn’t come with a heatsink, so you’ll have to rely on your motherboard’s included M.2 SSD heatsinks. However, PCIe 4 drives like this don’t run too hot so you shouldn’t need too large a heatsink.
