This update added PS5 Pro support for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, offering a 60fps framerate at the base PS5’s Quality Mode settings while utilizing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. However, the AI upscaler’s implementation has seemingly gone awry, as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora exhibits worse image quality on PS5 Pro compared to the base PS5.

The shimmering artifacts are most noticeable around foliage, a significant issue considering Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora‘s environments are full of trees and plants. What makes matters worse is that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora only offers one mode on PS5 Pro with no option to disable PSSR, leaving players stuck with the subpar image quality.


Fans have been attempting to alert Ubisoft Massive about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora‘s image quality issues on PS5 Pro, but the studio has yet to acknowledge them.
