Diablo Immortal Finally Adding Major Franchise Villain

Diablo Immortal Finally Adding Major Franchise Villain

Key Takeaways

  • Lord of Terror Diablo is to debut in Diablo Immortal, marking the demon’s return to the franchise.
  • Teased in the 31st season, Diablo’s arrival hints at a possible boss role in the game.
  • An ongoing crossover event with WoW showcases PvP mode and themed content until December 11.

The free-to-play action RPG Diablo Immortal will soon welcome Lord of Terror Al’Diabolos, the titular main antagonist of Blizzard’s popular series of dungeon crawlers. The powerful demon was an enemy that players could duel in all the games, except for Diablo Immortal and the franchise’s latest numbered entry.

In the universe of Blizzard’s critically-acclaimed series of isometric hack and slash games, Al’Diabolos, more commonly known as Diablo, is among the three Prime Evils who rule over the demon-infested Burning Hells. While the character was featured as a boss in the first three major Diablo titles, they only made a brief appearance in the series’ sole mobile experience following the defeat of its primary villain, Skarn. It seems, however, that the Lord of Terror will have a bigger role to play in Diablo Immortal, as implied by his imminent “return” to the game.

The official Diablo Immortal Twitter account has confirmed that Diablo is coming to the title soon. Details regarding the arrival were not provided, but some have theorized that this could be part of a new event. Others, meanwhile, believe the villain, widely recognized as one of the strongest demons in the Diablo franchise, is going to become a boss. Four bosses were added to Diablo Immortal‘s Helliquary system in June, namely Aeyntragga the Eater of Storms, Morsagurei the Fisher’s Ruin, Uthmaash-Ksarr the Breath Collector, and Ice Leviathan Xekorendaag.

The Lord of Terror Diablo Comes to Diablo Immortal Soon

Diablo Immortal has an ongoing crossover event with World of Warcraft, another popular Blizzard property, that features the Lich King Arthas Menethil as a boss. It also added Conqueror, a PvP mode that lets players fight as members of either the Alliance or the Horde, the two primary factions in World of Warcraft. The special mode uses a map called Cutthroat Basin, which, according to Blizzard, was inspired by the Arathi Basin battleground. Diablo Immortal‘s collaboration with World of Warcraft, dubbed the Eternal War, will be active until December 11.

Al’Diabolos arrival in Diablo Immortal was teased in the game’s 31st season, which concluded in October. The title is currently on Season 33: Shades of Nephalem, which is scheduled to wrap up on December 3. This latest season is named after the Nephalem, humanity’s ancestors who were born from angels and demons.
