December 2 is set to be an exciting day for all RuneScape players, with Jagex confirming that it will mark the beginning of this year’s Christmas event. Jagex is putting on a treat for RuneScape players this year, with the holiday celebrations set to last over a month.
Every year, Jagex celebrates multiple holidays in RuneScape, like Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, in the form of large-scale events. For the duration of these events, players can take part in a themed event to earn exclusive rewards, giving players bragging rights over others in subsequent years. These events have been a yearly occurrence since 2001, meaning they’re very much a long-standing tradition at this point. Understandably, not everyone has the time to take part on the actual holidays themselves, which is why most of these events are spread out over a few weeks or longer. It gives everyone the chance to get involved.

Jagex detailed this year’s RuneScape Christmas event in an extensive blog post. The Christmas Village is back from last year’s event, with even more new content. Older character Diango “needs your help to set up his cosy new workshop and spread festive cheer across Gielinor.” The event will see players “recruit a team of pixie helpers, craft cheerful uniforms, and stock the breakroom with plenty of seasonal treats to keep spirits high” in a new festive quest. New seasonal activities will run, such as Toy Crafting and Hot Chocolate Making, while unique buffs will be offered each week through the Winter Weeks feature. Players can take a break from the RuneScape grind and have a little fun over the holidays.
RuneScape’s 2024 Christmas Event Starts on December 2
The event is set to begin on December 2, running all the way until January 5, 2025. This gives players over a month to claim their festive rewards, and earn the chance to win the rare Black Partyhat. Logging in on 24 days throughout the event will allow RuneScape players to take part in an advent calendar, with extra rewards if players open 15 spots on the calendar on their intended day. Players certainly won’t be stuck for things to do in RuneScape for the duration of the Christmas event. Jagex has not yet confirmed the plans for the Old School RuneScape Christmas event, although news on that front can’t be far away.
RuneScape is one of the oldest MMORPGs that is still active today, and its community remains massive. This is because despite the fact the game has had its fair share of controversial updates over the years, Jagex’s commitment to the game has never wavered, and there’s plenty of content to be excited about going forward. Many of the future updates will revolve around improving skilling content beyond Level 99, which has been a cap for most skills since the game’s inception. It will be interesting to see how the game’s endgame content changes as a result of this focus over the next few years.
