- Prop Hunt is a popular game mode in the Call of Duty series, testing players’ camouflage skills.
A Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Prop Hunt strategy on Derelict in which a player hides in plain sight actually worked somehow. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Prop Hunt provides the hiding team with some tools to escape Hunters, but this minimalist strategy has paid off for one player.
Since its introduction to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as a community mod, Prop Hunt has become a staple of the series. Officially added with Modern Warfare Remastered, it has been featured in Call of Duty: WW2, Black Ops 4, Mobile, and more. In this game mode, a team of Props tries to camouflage into a given map, while a team of Hunters decipher which objects are genuine and which ones are hiding players. This often results in nail-biting moments as a prop is discovered to be a player, and they have only a few moments to try to escape. One gamer has successfully hidden in plain sight on Black Ops 6‘s Derelict map by strategically standing in the middle of a corridor.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Have Some Problems With Prop Hunt
Some Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players highlight key problems with the Prop Hunt game mode introduced with the release of Season 1.
Reddit user Fatsonic02 recently shared a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 clip in which they’re spectating a friend. In the clip, their friend who’s disguised as a mattress stands in the middle of a common opening that players typically funnel through in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer. This gamer is one of two remaining props that continue to whistle in 30-second intervals, with a Hunter approaching them after a whistle. The Hunter walks past the mattress twice before shooting at a nearby barrel and then disappearing into the distance. The clip concludes without the prop being spotted, but the strat was enough to escape one of the enemies, which is sometimes all a player needs to win the round.
This Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Prop Hunt Strat Somehow Worked
While the mattress looks out of place here, the Hunters may have seen it and thought it acted as a divider for the opening in the wall. As Fatsonic02 never elaborated on the situation, it’s unclear if their friend had always been in this location or if they relocated after being spotted in a different area. Black Ops 6‘s Season 1 Prop Hunt allows the hiding players to move freely, and they’re given a limited number of flashes. These flashes become particularly useful once a prop is spotted. Players can change their prop up to two times, and find a new hiding place, assuming they’re able to dodge the Hunters after flashing them.
Treyarch is expected to continue updating Black Ops 6 with more content for the foreseeable future, and Prop Hunt should become available on more maps. As Treyarch just added Prop Hunt to Black Ops 6 with the Season 1 update, crazy new strategies may be shared by the community with more players trying it.
