Best Weekly Bosses In Genshin Impact

Best Weekly Bosses In Genshin Impact

Boss fights are often the most memorable moments to be found in story-based games, with Genshin Impact being no exception. Hours upon hours of farming weaker enemies, leveling up gear, and practicing your best combos finally culminate in a climactic clash against one of the game’s biggest, baddest enemies.

Good boss encounters often make for good games and that’s the case with Genshin Impact. We take a look at all the Weekly Bosses in the widely popular adventure game that features its fair share of infamous evildoers. Here’s every Weekly Boss in Genshin Impact, ranked by how exciting, challenging, and compelling their fights are.

Updated on November 30, 2024, by Asad Kashif: Hoyoverse continues to improve on Genshin Impact’s best boss battles, introducing more interactive mechanics and increasing how difficult it can be to defeat new ones. The co-op experience has also been rapidly improved, with boss battles such as the Shouki no Kami being made a lot easier with friends. We’ve added Scaramouche, as well as the Fontainian boss battles including Arlecchino and the All Devouring Narwhal, and given the list another look to ensure it stays relevant even up till Natlan!

10 Andrius

Good Early-Game Boss

Andrius, Dominator of Wolves, had his moment to shine at the end of Razor‘s Story Quest, but unfortunately he hasn’t aged too well since then. The fight’s first phase is tragically one-dimensional, consisting almost entirely of Andrius charging or leaping towards you and slashing once or twice with his claws. His incessant movement during this phase also requires you to chase him around constantly, and it largely invalidates your characters’ stationary abilities, such as Bennett’s Elemental Burst.

After you eventually manage to chase Andrius down and trigger phase two, you’re rewarded with a second phase that’s not much more interesting than the first one. He moves around less, sure, but you’ll still have to deal with his Anemo and Cryo immunity, as well as his janky hitboxes. The Wolf of the North isn’t particularly tanky, but the fight drags on way longer than it needs to, with not enough challenging mechanics to keep you engaged the whole time. Sorry Andrius, but there’s a reason you don’t have your own Teleport Waypoint.

9 Dvalin

A Terrifying Dragon That Can Unfortunately Be One-Shot

Stormterror Dvalin flying in stormy skies during his boss battle in Genshin Impact.

Dvalin, also known as Stormterror (or Venti‘s best friend), is another fight from the beginning of Genshin Impact that holds up rather questionably. Admittedly, this boss encounter gets a lot of credit for its initial introduction. The story builds up beautifully to this moment where you finally free Dvalin from his torment and save Mondstadt. The cutscenes are suitably epic, the arena is large and dynamic, and the fight is actually difficult during your first attempt.

The longer you play Genshin Impact, though, the less this fight feels like a momentous climax and the more it feels like a benchmark to see if your team can defeat Dvalin in less than three milliseconds. As your team grows stronger throughout your journey, Dvalin becomes incredibly weak, to the point where 90 percent of the fight’s mechanics can be skipped entirely. At least this means he’s a fast way to farm boss materials, but it genuinely undermines the significance that the confrontation had originally.

8 Childe

First Human Boss Battle

Squaring off against Childe, the Eleventh Fatui Harbinger, is an awesome scene that comes at the culmination of a strong storyline. After working side by side with Childe for several missions, you slowly uncover his nefarious plans before being thrust into a high-stakes duel with the Snezhnayan scoundrel.

Genshin Impact is all about creating party synergy with abilities. These bow users offer great utility and some are even free!

Childe’s boss fight features his signature Riptide mechanic, giving you a clear win-condition as you try to cleanse this status from your characters and avoid Childe’s supercharged attacks. Childe doesn’t waste your time either, always rushing towards you to unleash one of the dozens of attacks in his arsenal. When you combine this fight’s intense pacing with Childe’s three distinct forms — one of which launches an entire whale at you — you have the recipe for a boss fight that’s fast, flashy, and fair.

7 Apep

Guardian Of Apep’s Oasis

Everything about Apep is an absolute masterclass in setting up a theme. Everything, except for the actual boss battle itself. The music is gorgeous, the stage is stunning, and the eerie model that shows remnants of its former glory sets the scene just right, with enough non-traditional animations to put the Wenut to shame.

Apep also has one of the most beautiful phase shift animations in Genshin Impact, blooming flowers on its withered body after being revived. However, each time you battle Apep, it’s more a matter of waiting out and defeating tiny mobs than facing a remarkable opponent. The fight isn’t bad; it just doesn’t utilize Apep’s unorthodox design to its fullest potential, instead making it just a Ruin Serpent that summons mobs.

A good Hydro character that deals AOE damage, such as

Neuvillette

, is good for wiping out the various mobs that Apep spawns.

6 La Signora

Trial Of Ice And Fire

Signora, Number Eight of the Fatui Harbingers, may be deceased for the moment, but her boss fight remains one of Genshin Impact’s best. Set before Raiden Shogun‘s throne, this fight pits you against the Crimson Witch of Flames with both of your lives on the line. Signora has been a wicked force in the game’s story since the beginning, so finally having the chance to take her down represents a long-awaited moment for many players.

Signora’s fight itself is worthy of the hype demanded by the story. Signora’s first phase tasks you with overcoming her chilling attacks and frosty defenses, encouraging you to use Pyro characters and keep your team safe from frostbite by destroying orbs of heat. When Signora’s hubris begins to falter and she emerges in her fiery form, the fight’s mechanics flip, forcing you to instead stay cool amidst the heat of her desperate onslaught by breaking Cryo orbs.

The duality of this encounter necessitates creative team-building, while the fight’s constrained arena and temperature mechanics demand your best performance. This boss fight is innovative and exciting, and replaying Signora’s demise sends chills down your spine every time.

5 Azhdaha

Absorbs Elements And Releases Deadly Shockwaves

Azhdaha, Lord of Vishaps, is the boss you’ll face at the end of Zhongli‘s second Story Quest. The entire questline is dedicated to establishing the mysterious, ancient character of Azhdaha, and his grand reveal does not disappoint. From the imposing underground arena to the swelling soundtrack, everything about this encounter signals that a battle for the ages is about to begin.

Even better, the fight itself largely lives up to its lofty expectations. Azhdaha roams the battlefield with might and ferocity, constantly threatening your team with a variety of attacks that will keep you on your toes. The fact that Azhdaha will randomly imbue himself with elements further adds to the complexity and replayability of this encounter, making sure each week’s challenge is as engaging as the last. The only downside to this fight is how harshly it punishes you for not bringing a shielder, turning a tough yet enjoyable fight into a deadly and frustrating slog.

4 Magatsu Mitake Narukami No Mikoto

The Raiden Shogun Stands Before You

The Raiden boss in the Plane of Euthymia geared up and holding out her arm while glaring, in Genshin Impact.

More commonly referred to as ‘Boss Raiden,’ Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto is a boss battle that can be ended before she transforms, but her encounter represents the very best this game has to offer. This boss fight lets you participate in the metaphysical duel between Ei and Raiden Shogun that lasted over 500 years as Ei tried to wrestle back authority from her eternity-obsessed puppet.

Raiden is the only boss in Genshin Impact where you have the ability to test out dodging her moves before challenging in for the first time in the Archon Quest!

This fight’s setting is simple yet striking, evoking the hostile eternity that Ei’s consciousness is trapped in. Raiden Shogun is also the fiercest opponent players have had to face in this game, with her attacks easily substantiating the legends about her slaying gods and slicing entire islands in half.

Raiden’s repertoire of attacks is vast, her speed is staggering, and her Baleful Shadowlord form will punish you harshly for slipping up. Nevertheless, Raiden has predictable vulnerability states and straightforward mechanics that ensure her fight is always challenging but never frustrating. This boss fight would not look out of place in a Soulsborne game, and it truly shows off how much Genshin Impact’s developers have learned since the game’s launch.

3 Shouki No Kami

Scaramouch’s Boss Battle Has Him Fight You In A Mecha

Scaramouche, or the Wanderer, or Hat Man, if you will, has been a popular character since Genshin Impact’s earliest days. His entire arc is one of the most tragic in the game, being created by Ei as a puppet, but being discarded out of the Raiden Shogun’s personal fear of hurting him.

He never got to know why this happened; instead, he believed himself to be abandoned without reason. This repeated multiple times, with him always being left alone, until eventually, people tried turning him into a Pseudo-Archon for their own desires.

This Boss Fight is likely the closest we’ve gotten to fighting an actual Archon in terms of strength. The first phase is fairly simple with the core mechanic revolving around using specific buttons on the map to trigger the best effect among a number of them.

His second phase only improves on the beauty of the first, with the previously seen mech sprouting legs and revealing its scale. The rest of the fight has you dodging attacks from all directions while trying to gather enough energy to burst him down using Nahida‘s familiar. If you can’t do so in time, Scaramouche unleashes an orb of mass destruction, releasing a shockwave that cannot be blocked. If, however, you manage to achieve this, you’re met with a heavily weakened Scaramouche with his core open, letting you burst him down!

2 All-Devouring Narwhal

A Primordial Beast That Consumes Worlds

No one likes bosses with long immunity phases that last lengthy amounts of time. However, for a beast that consumes entire realms on a whim, such a boss battle is suitable. At the start, the All-Devouring Narwhal moves too much for you to land any proper hits on it. There are certain moves where it stays above ground for longer, but even those are not enough to one-shot it. The purpose of this phase is to scrape down its shield so it goes into its second phase.

The second phase is the highlight of this battle to many. The music shifts from the grandiose instrumentals of the first to a melody of urgency, the octaves heightening as the battle progresses further. The mechanics of this phase keep you on your toes as well, with the humanoid having an extremely aggressive playstyle resulting in a relentless barrage of attacks, giving you no time to rest. Once you deal with this phase, you’re rewarded with a very vulnerable Whale lying flat on the ground.

1 The Knave

Arlecchino Becomes Even Fiercer As A Boss

Since her first appearance in the Fatui teaser, Arlecchino was one of the most hyped characters that fans were excited to see in the game. Fortunately, Arlecchino didn’t disappoint whatsoever, having both her playable version and the boss you can fight weekly be extremely well-thought-out. For those who have completed Fontaine’s Story Quests, the thematic weight of this battle adds to how good of a fight it is.

Arlecchino lunges at you right after reviving. Keep your Elemental Burst ready or use a dash to be immune when this damage hits!

Arlecchino might be Genshin Impact’s hardest boss fight. Everything from her fast attacks to her one-shot moves makes her a very mechanically demanding opponent to beat, even in just her first phase. However, even after you beat her once, the Knave merely sprouts wings and rebirths herself, coming back with an even stronger skillset that shoots out crimson spikes and has multiple ways of ending your life in a single hit.
