First announced back in September 2022, Assassin’s Creed Invictus is still shrouded in mystery. Aside from the confirmation of it being a multiplayer game, virtually no official details have been revealed about Assassin’s Creed Invictus in the two years since its announcement. But there have been a few leaks over the last year or so, one of which has proven to be quite controversial.
Back in September, a rumor from Twitter user j0nathan started making the rounds online. This rumor claimed that Assassin’s Creed Invictus was going to be a Fall Guys-inspired multiplayer game with an arcade-y feel, in which players compete in a series of themed challenges. This direction isn’t necessarily the one fans would want from an Assassin’s Creed multiplayer game, but it could still work if it was integrated well into Assassin’s Creed‘s universe. And if Assassin’s Creed Invictus is already borrowing from Fall Guys, it might as well take a few elements from Fortnite too.

Now that Assassin’s Creed 2 is 15 years old, it’s time to look back and contemplate its impact on one of the biggest franchises in gaming history.
Assassin’s Creed Invictus Going Full Fortnite Could Come With a Few Big Benefits
Assassin’s Creed Invictus Could Include A Ton of Crossover Skins
In j0nathan’s Assassin’s Creed Invictus leak, it was mentioned that the multiplayer game would let players control a variety of characters from across the franchise’s long history, with Cesare Borgia and Ezio Auditore da Firenze being specifically named in the leak. This would be a smart approach for Assassin’s Creed Invictus, with the AC franchise having so many beloved characters to pull from for its roster, from protagonists like Edward Kenway and Kassandra to villains like Charles Lee and Haytham.
But those Assassin’s Creed franchise skins should just be the tip of the iceberg for Invictus. Assassin’s Creed Invictus should follow in Fortnite‘s footsteps and bring a collection of crossover skins to the multiplayer game. Invictus could begin with crossover skins based on iconic characters from other Ubisoft franchises, but to keep the game feeling like an authentic part of the AC universe, it could style these character skins to look like a set of Assassin robes.
For instance, a Splinter Cell Sam Fisher-inspired outfit for Assassin’s Creed Invictus could add a black robe to the game that has three bright green lines stretching down its cape and torso. And a Rayman-inspired skin, for example, would add the iconic mascot’s purple coloring to a set of Assassin robes, and feature pitch-black arms that end in stark white gloves, representing Rayman’s disembodied hands.
Assassin’s Creed Invictus Could Benefit From Following Fortnite’s Live-Service Model
Along with borrowing the concept of crossover skins, Assassin’s Creed Invictus could also benefit greatly from following in Fortnite‘s footsteps when it comes to its live-service approach. It’s been proven time and time again that the live-service model is incredibly risky, and while Ubisoft has had prior successes with the formula like The Division 2, it would need an Assassin’s Creed live-service game to be much bigger.
Following Fortnite‘s tried and tested live-service model is probably the smart way to go if Invictus wants to keep fans invested long-term. This means consistent seasonal updates that bring worthwhile new content to the game, a reasonably-priced Battle Pass with cosmetics fans actually want, and a wealth of rotating challenges that incentivize fans to keep playing.
