Key Takeaways
- Xur has returned to Destiny 2 for the weekend, bringing new armor, weapons, and items to purchase.
- For exotic armor, Xur has An Insurmountable Skullfort, Khepri’s Sting, and Chromatic Fire.
- New exotic weapons for this weekend include Telesto, a new Hawkmoon roll, and the return of Monte Carlo and Black Talon.
Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Alongside the arrival of Act 2, Destiny 2 launched a major midseason update, which brought a bunch of major changes to the game that included much-needed buffs to many of the underused and forgotten super abilities in the game.
While the update has breathed new life into certain subclass builds, it also appears to have broken some things. Sentinel Shield Titans are outputting major damage with the super melee strike, leading Bungie to push for a fix sometime in mid-December. However, the studio has to quickly pivot when a new Destiny 2 bug was discovered for Shadebinder Warlocks, as the Ballidorse Wrathweavers were able to essentially one-shot even the most hearty of raid bosses under certain circumstances. The exotic has since been disabled with no timetable for its return yet.

In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur is back with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of November 29, 2024.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there’s no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur’s Exotic Armor
Chromatic Fire – Warlock chest armor
Exotic Perk:
- Crystalline Transistor – Precision final blows from Kinetic weapons create an explosion in the element of your equipped Super and apply a matching elemental effect.
The highest roll of the weekend goes to Warlocks and the Chromatic Fire. Unlike the Hunter exotic, this one works best in PvE activities thanks to its add clearing and status effect potential to large groups of enemies. The trade-off is that it is specific to kinetic weapons.
Stat Values (69 Total):
- Mobility +2
- Resilience +18
- Recovery +17
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +10
- Strength +20
Khepri’s Sting – Hunter gautlets
Exotic Perk:
- Touch of Venom – Punching someone with full melee energy will instantly cast Smoke Bomb. Your Smoke Bombs deal increased damage, regenerate more quickly when stuck to a surface, and grant you Truesight after damaging a target.
Not super valuable in PvE situations, but can be beneficial in PvP thanks to Trusight. The roll is fairly balanced, though in terms of total numbers, it comes up a bit short, so these aren’t a must-buy.
Stat Values (63 Total):
- Mobility +11
- Resilience +11
- Recovery +11
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +15
- Strength +13
An Insurmountable Skullfort – Titan helmet
Exotic Perk:
- Transfusion Matrix – Kills with Arc melee abilities trigger health regeneration and restore melee energy.
The stat roll synergizes well with the exotic this week, and is a solid option for survivability thanks to its ability to heal and restore melee energy. Again, the tradeoff with this one is that its bonus is restricted to arc melee kills.
Stat Values (64 total):
- Mobility +2
- Resilience +11
- Recovery +20
- Discipline +9
- Intellect +2
- Strength +20
