World of Warcraft Boss Randomly Kills Player After Leaving a Dungeon

World of Warcraft Boss Randomly Kills Player After Leaving a Dungeon

Key Takeaways

  • A World of Warcraft player was killed by a boss 3 minutes after finishing the dungeon.
  • The boss used a DoT ability on the player randomly after leaving the encounter.
  • The glitch was a surprise to many WoW fans, causing amusement and confusion.

A World of Warcraft player was killed by Erudax, the final boss of Grim Batol, three minutes after finishing the dungeon. Though they had long since left the instance, this World of Warcraft boss somehow managed to kill this unlucky fan anyway.

Mythic+ dungeons are some of the hardest instances in World of Warcraft. With a ladder of keys that ostensibly keeps climbing for as long as players can clear them, the endgame content features rotating affixes to keep World of Warcraft fans guessing as they try to complete the dungeons within the allotted time limits.

Here are some of the best WeakAuras players can use to optimize their performance in Mythic+ during Season 1 of The War Within.

However, one World of Warcraft boss seemingly bent the rules to kill a character in a way they could never have anticipated. Paladin player and Reddit user EndTheEnd recently shared an image of their World of Warcraft character’s Death Recap in which they took over 3,800,000 damage from Void Surge, an ability used by Erudax, the Duke of Below in the Grim Batol dungeon from WoW: The War Within Season 1’s Mythic rotation. The kicker is that this damage didn’t happen during the encounter – it took place three minutes after defeating Erudax and leaving the encounter, while on a flight path in Azj-Kahet.

Final Boss of Grim Batol Kills WoW Player From the Grave

Void Surge is a powerful, group-wide DoT ability that World of Warcraft healers need to manage during the battle, especially in high Mythic+ keys – but few expect to be randomly hit with the ability after the dungeon. While this isn’t the only time this sort of glitch has happened in World of Warcraft, it is one of the first times it has been reported in The War Within.

Needless to say, EndTheEnd’s fellow World of Warcraft players got a kick out of their unfortunate demise. Many fans commented on the post with quotes from popular media, with one evoking the iconic speech from Emperor Palpatine to Anakin in Star Wars: Episode 3 by saying “The void is a pathway to abilities some would consider to be unnatural,” and another likening the boss in World of Warcraft to Randy from South Park by saying “I didn’t hear no bell.” While plenty of players tried to figure out what caused this peculiar glitch, they were at least glad to see that EndTheEnd still timed their Mythic+ key – though they jokingly warned that Erudax might figure out how to break the rules and change that as well.

Players have a couple more months of Grim Batol before World of Warcraft releases Patch 11.1, Undermined, bringing a new set of Mythic dungeons for The War Within Season 2. Hopefully, other fans can avoid Erudax’s vengeance during their own Mythic+ runs until then.
