Quick Links
The Soul King is the god of the Bleach world. He’s a mysterious entity without limbs and organs that is sealed within a crystal in the royal palace. His existence serves as a linchpin, keeping the three realms together in harmony. But at the same time, it is nothing but a painful and excruciating life. Through the Original Sin, The Soul King was mutilated and sealed to change the Bleach world into what it is now. And it is said that his torn-off limbs and organs fell into the world. And his two arms gained sentience and their own will. These are Mimihagi and Pernida.
Mimihagi is the deity of the eastern Rukongai district. While Pernida serves as one of Yhwach’s Royal Guard. Both of these entities represent opposite concepts and embody them through their actions and powers. Here’s what you need to know about the Soul King’s arms in Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War.

Mimihagi, The Right Arm of the Soul King
Stillness Embodied
Mimihagi is the right arm of the Soul King that fell onto the Soul Society. With time, it became a lesser fallen God to the people of Rukongai. It lived in a shrine deep in the mountains of the eastern Rukongai. It was said to grant miracles to the people living nearby. When Juushiro Ukitake was three years old, he was about to die from a chronic lung disease that he had been born with, and his parents prayed to Mimihagi to save him. Mimihagi was moved by the boy’s inherent kindness and good heart and agreed to save his life. It fused with Ukitake, taking his internal organs in exchange for keeping him alive and keeping his illness still. This allowed Ukitake to live a very long life and become a soul reaper.
“Lord Mimihagi, Lord Mimihagi. Pray, release Thou the power of Thine August Eye. Pray, abandon Thou the Power of Thine August Eye that Thou hast buried within mine innards.”
Mimihagi controls and embodies the concept of stillness. It follows this idea by keeping Ukitake’s chronic condition still and in stasis. By keeping the captain alive for hundreds of years, it embodies the idea of stillness. However, Mimihagi is inherently benevolent, as it agrees to save a regular boy’s life simply because it deems him worthy of saving because of his inherent kindness. Mimihagi has no real affiliation to either the Soul Society or even Ukitake, it merely acts as a benevolent God to the poor people in the Rukongai.
- Mimihagi is the right arm of the Soul King.
- It controls stillness, keeping Ukitake’s illness in stasis.
- It acted as a God to the people of the Rukongai
Once Yhwach killed the Soul King, Ukitake performed the Kamikake ritual, sacrificing his life to make Mimihagi take the place of the Soul King and keep the three realms together. This is another way in which the right arm embodies stillness, just as the Soul King did before. At least for a moment, it keeps the world in place.

Pernida Parnkgjas, The Left Arm of the Soul King
Advancement Embodied
Pernida Parnkgjas is the left arm of the Soul King that Ichibe Hyosube kept. The left arm was kept by Squad 0 for many years until, during a meeting with the Quincy King, Yhwach stole it from Ichibe Hyosube and brought it to his side. The left arm became the Quincy known as Pernida Parnkgjas. Unlike most of the Quincy, Pernida was not granted a Schrift by Yhwach, instead, it already possessed the ability that was later called The Compulsory. Pernida has the ability to shoot its nerves into either its enemies or inanimate objects and control their movements at will.
Left arm…not name…Pernida…Parnkgjas…
Pernida lived as a small hooded figure for many years until its battle with captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Its true form is revealed. That of a giant left arm with chains tying its fingers together and an eye in its palm. It contains two irises similar to the Almighty’s eyes that the Soul King and Yhwach possess. Pernida represents and embodies advancement in opposition to its counterpart, Mimihagi. It embodies this by how it rapidly evolves and learns during its battle with Mayuri. It starts the battle as a sort of infant and quickly learns how to speak and grows in size and grows stronger as the fight progresses.
- Pernida Parnkgjas is the left arm of the Soul King.
- It has the ability called The Compulsory
- It’s a member of the Quincy Schutztaffel, Yhwach’s elite soldiers.
- It controls advancement, evolving and growing during its battle with Mayuri.
Pernida is part of the Schutztaffel, the Quincy King’s Royal Guard. This makes it one of the strongest and most overwhelming Quincy warriors. Just like its companions, it possesses extraordinary abilities that far outweigh those seen in regular Quincy Sternritters. Pernida’s The Compulsory was able to easily defeat the powerful captain, Kenpachi Zaraki. Perhaps any other soul reaper besides Mayuri Kurotsuchi would also have fallen to the left arm.
