The Remaining Arcs Of The Final Saga, Explained

This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Final Saga.

Key Takeaways

  • Elbaf Arc of One Piece is currently ongoing, featuring new characters like Loki.
  • After Elbaf, Luffy may pursue the last Road Poneglyph to become Pirate King.
  • The series may end in the 2030s with a major war against the World Government.

One Piece has officially entered its Final Saga, and it is safe to say that this part of the story is the most important one. Final sagas make or break a series, and it is also the part that is most scrutinized by the fans, not only because it is the final piece of the puzzle, but also because it is increasingly common for authors to deliver great stories, and then, eventually go on to falter at the last step and mess up their endings.

One Piece: Why Luffy’s Next Bounty Will Be The Highest In The Series

Luffy received a huge bounty after taking down Kaido. His highest bounty will be the one he is given in One Piece’s final saga.

For Oda, this doesn’t necessarily seem to be a problem, because he has already planned how his story is going to go. But, that certainly does not mean that fans can’t be intrigued by what the Oda has to offer in this particular saga. Currently, One Piece’s Final Saga has been going on for over 2 years, and it certainly has quite a long road ahead of it.

The Elbaf Arc Of One Piece Has Been Spectacular So Far

  • Elbaf began shortly after the conclusion of Egghead
  • Luffy’s journey continues through the Warland

The Final Saga of One Piece began with Egghead Island. This particular arc saw the Straw Hat Pirates visit Future Island, where they met Doctor Vegapunk and, through him, found out quite a bunch of secrets about the Void Century of the world. At the same time, the Marines launched an all-out attack on this island, and war ensued on Future Island. Eventually, the Straw Hats managed to survive and made it out of the island safely, which meant that their next destination was of interest to all the readers. It was announced long ago that after Egghead, the Straw Hats would go to the island of the Giants, and it was increasingly clear when Dorry and Brogy decided to show up on Egghead and take the Straw Hats with them. Currently, One Piece is in the Elbaf arc, and given that this arc is likely to be a major one, similar in scale to the likes of Wano, fans know that it is going to be incredibly exciting.

The Elbaf art has only just begun and fans are still being introduced to the elements of this country. Characters such as Loki have started making their appearances, and there’s a lot of lore that is still left to explore. Fans don’t even know who the major antagonist in this arc is going to be and what direction Oda will take the story in in this particular arc. This goes on to suggest that Elbaf is likely going to continue for many years, likely three or four, if not more.

This also means that One Piece is not going to end anytime soon, because there is a massive journey ahead for Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates before they can go on to finish what they started and before One Piece wraps up as well, so Oda takes a well-deserved rest. Naturally, fans might wonder as to what comes after the Elbaf Arc and there are certainly many interesting islands where Oda could throw his focus on.

What Follows Elbaf in One Piece?

There Are A Few Key Islands The Straw Hats Will Have To Turn Their Eyes Towards

It is hard to predict exactly which direction One Piece will take after the Elbaf Arc. But, there are certain elements that fans need to keep in mind. The very first thing that fans need to remember is that Luffy wants to claim the One Piece and to do that, he needs the Road Poneglyphs. Currently, he has three of the four Road Poneglyphs, which means that he is just one step away from claiming this grand treasure. It is highly unlikely that Luffy will run into the Man with the Burn Scar and obtain the last one. At the very least, fans can say that more context will be provided in regards to this character in this Arc.

Perhaps, Luffy will figure out the location of the last Road Poneglyph, and then head out to this particular location after Elbaf. This essentially means that whatever comes after Elbaf will likely see Luffy take the last step before becoming the Pirate King, and that is attaining the last Road Poneglyph.

At the same time, this also means that other Yonko, who are on the same quest as Luffy, will likely clash with him in battle. If Luffy versus Shanks is likely dealt with in Elbaf, then Luffy versus Blackbeard could potentially happen right after the arc and just before Luffy becomes the Pirate King.

This could mean the next arc after Elbaf focuses around the events of Hachinosu, which could be embroiled in a war already, due to their potential deal with the Navy and the capture of Garp. Similarly, the Cross Guild could see themselves embroiled in this war as well, due to their incredibly aggressive approach against the Navy by issuing bounties. Fans could see all of this result in one major arc where the Emperors go up against the Marines on the island of Hachinosu.

I want to be King of the Pirate Island! – Blackbeard

Then, one also needs to consider that the island of Lodestar exists as well. Normally, Lodestar Island is where people find out about Poneglyphs. But, the Straw Hats have already acquired knowledge about the Poneglyphs through other sources, which means the importance of this island to the Straw Hat crew isn’t much. But, Lodestar still lies at the end of the Grand Line, which means that no matter what Luffy does, he will have to pass through this island. This could end up being a mini-arc of its own where other important things about the world of One Piece will be revealed.

One Piece: Oda Drops A Major Hint About Elbaf’s Destruction

Elbaf could be destroyed in One Piece. Here’s Oda’s hint towards that.

One Piece will also enter the Laugh Tale arc, where Luffy will go on to become the Pirate King and learn the true history of the world. Fans will also likely find out everything about the world of One Piece here, such as the events of the Void Century, the importance of the Ancient Weapons, and the meaning of the D. After Luffy becomes the Pirate King, the major war against the World Government will begin, which means that the Marijoa Arc, or the Great War Arc, can finally ensue. This is likely to be the last arc of One Piece, and it will result in a major war that Oda has been teasing for many years now. This war will be of an enormous scale, and it will eventually result in the defeat of the World Government and Joy Boy fulfilling the age-old promise.

Of course, Oda loves to do post-war arcs, which means that once the Great War ends, fans will likely get to see a post-war Arc as well, spanning over a few chapters, at the very least. With this arc, One Piece will finally come to a conclusion, and Oda can finally take a much-deserved rest after. Clearly, this is a long journey, and One Piece is certainly not going to end anytime soon.

What Year Will One Piece Conclude In?

One Piece Won’t End Before 2030

It is difficult to predict exactly what year One Piece will end in. But, based on the number of breaks that Oda is taking, and at the same time, how long even small arcs are in One Piece lately, fans can say confidently that One Piece will most likely continue for at least six more years. This means that One Piece will likely head into the 2030s, and if one had to predict what year the series will end in, perhaps 2031 or 2032 would be a good guess.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1132, is set to be December 1, 2024.
