5 Terapagos: Surging Sparks (Rare) – $0.15

An Affordable Addition

Terapagos’ second appearance in the Pokemon TCG is in Surging Sparks, a valuable set boasting some of the top chase cards in the Scarlet & Violet era. Unfortunately for Terapagos, its second appearance carried fewer cards to choose from than in Stellar Crown – easily the best set of Terapagos cards thus far.

While this card is likely doomed to remain in bulk bins across the world, its place among the best Terapagos cards thus far is a reminder that any Pokemon can have a humble start and still boast an impressive collection of cards. At under 25 cents, this is one of the most accessible points of entry to start your Terapagos collection.

4 Terapagos ex: Stellar Crown (Double Rare) – $6.24

Getting Better

Terapagos’ first set, Stellar Crown, is home to what will likely be some of the best cards this Pokemon ever receives, especially the gorgeous chase card still to come. This Double Rare doesn’t break the bank, but it represents a significant jump in price from the prior entry, although it’s not hard to eclipse a card that’s under 25 cents.

While Terapagos’ downward trajectory is likely to remain constant until this card bottoms out, Double Rare cards aren’t typically expected to retain value, especially once they rotate out of use in the TCG. Typically, Double Rares are the least interesting version of the Pokemon, but two superior versions are waiting in the wings.

A Simple Step Up

Before we get to the most valuable Terapagos cards ever, we take a quick detour into the world of valuable promo cards, as this Terapagos card offers excellent art that you would usually see as an Ultra Rare in sets like Surging Sparks. The simple white background is the perfect canvas for the rainbow of glimmering sparkles that are dotted across the card.

While there’s still plenty of time for this card to rise and fall before it eventually finds a stable value, its hot start out of the gate is a testament to the Terapagos hype and the continued desirability of promo cards as a whole.

2 Terapagos ex: Stellar Crown (Hyper Rare) – $20.99

An Explosion Of Colors

The Terapagos Hyper Rare marks an incredible glow-up for this Paldean Legendary Pokemon, as the darker gold background immediately signals its significance. The Hyper Rare background is thankfully much more muted and complementary than previous Gold Secret Rare versions, but Terapagos’ polychromatic design makes this scene a bit muddled.

Visuals aside, this Hyper Rare is struggling to hold onto the unexpectedly high value it debuted at, falling from its $40 initial price to its current market price, which reflects a 50 percent decline. However, time is likely to create opportunities for this card to rebound in price, but there’s no telling if it will ever approach its former highs.

A Stunning Debut

Terapagos’ most valuable card from Stellar Crown claims its rightful place as the best Terapagos depiction on offer so far. While its career is still incredibly young, this Legendary Pokemon already has a few solid entries that are likely to stick around as it receives newer versions that seek to improve on the core originals.

Terapagos is in an awkward phase after its initial hype where most of its cards may drop in price. Most new Pokemon experience the same thing, and this pattern is a normal occurrence.

Unfortunately for Terapagos, it began its life with the impossible task of maintaining a roughly $150 valuation – something that few cards can do unless they’re backed by years of popularity. Unsurprisingly, this card’s value has plummeted since release, dropping by the same 50 percent margin as its Hyper Rare. Despite the massive pullback, Terapagos’ best days might still be ahead of it, so keep a close eye on where this card’s price settles.
