The Boys Season 5 Return Will See a Major Reunion Between Two Stars

Jensen Ackles will return and reprise his role as Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 5. However, fans are in for a big reunion as another actor will appear in the series.

Ackles made his debut as Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 3. His storyline was featured in several episodes in the said season, and he made a brief appearance in Season 4. Soldier Boy is a parody of Marvel’s patriotic superhero, Captain America, only that he is a darker, morally ambiguous personality. Just like Captain America, Soldier Boy was a soldier and was subjected to an experiment. While Captain America was enhanced by using a “super-soldier serum” to be an asset to the US Army, Soldier Boy’s aggressive behavior prompted his teammates to betray him. They handed him to the Russians, who conducted dozens of experiments on him for decades. Ackles’ portrayal of Soldier Boy was well-received, and fans even considered him among the best additions to the series. They were disappointed with his limited appearance in the fourth season. Fortunately, Ackles will return in the final season and will be joined by another actor, whom fans wanted to see with him onscreen.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke brings back Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy in Season 5 for a reason that has something to do with his son, Homelander.

Ackles’ Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki confirmed that he would appear in Supernatural Season 5. In a video posted on X by Fangasm, Padalecki was asked if he would appear in the series’ final season and if he wanted to share a screen with Ackles. “The answer to the first part is: yes,” Padalecki said and the crowd cheered. “The answer to the second part is also yes.” Ackles, who was with Padalecki at the same convention, jokingly reacted by covering his mouth, appearing surprised by the announcement. Padalecki went on and complimented Ackles’ portrayal of Soldier Boy while expressing his excitement and interest in an onscreen reunion. “He is awesome as Soldier Boy, and I hope that when I get to play in The Boys’ sandbox, my character will be able to see his character,” Padalecki continued. “It would be fun to share a screen again.”

American writer Eric Kripke is the same man behind Supernatural and The Boys. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in June 2024, he seemingly hinted about a potential Padalecki and Ackles reunion in the final season of The Boys. All three previously worked together for Supernatural, which aired on The CW for 15 seasons. Kripke acknowledged that the reunion would “break the internet.” “The value of that is to break the internet. So we’ll see whether it’s right for the story,” Kripke told EW. “But yes, it’s occurred to me that putting those two in a scene together would destroy much of the world, and that’s appealing.”

Ackles and Padalecki effectively portrayed their characters as the Winchester brothers Dean (Ackles) and Sam (Padalecki) in Supernatural. They showcased an impressive chemistry and dynamic that resonated with the audience, who obviously couldn’t get over them. The pair have been friends for years, and this has contributed to their natural interaction onscreen. Their tandem is nostalgic, and fans who have been following the duo for 15 years are thrilled to see them together again on screen. However, there are still no details about Padalecki’s character in the series. He could be a threat to Padalecki’s Soldier Boy or an alliance.
