Key Takeaways
- Prismatic Evolutions features secret rare Eeveelution cards that are likely to mirror Evolving Skies’ success.
- Umbreon ex is the standout chase card among the first 14 reveals for fans and collectors.
- The upcoming set had 7 new Special Illustration Rares showcased, focused on Scarlet and Violet’s Paradox Pokemon.
Prismatic Evolutions is set to be the biggest Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion of the Scarlet and Violet era.
Although the recently released Surging Sparks has been lauded for its Pikachu cards, Prismatic Evolutions feels like a Hail Mary for the TCG, which has been struggling a little since Scarlet and Violet launched. The set has been compared to Sword and Shield’s Evolving Skies, arguably the most popular expansion in the last few years, due to its number of secret rare Eeveelution cards.

From popular promos, to terrifying trainers, these are the most expensive cards from the Scarlet & Violet era.
As the launch of Prismatic Evolutions approaches, we’ve got our next look at some of the Special Illustration Rare cards, courtesy of reveals from the Japanese equivalent, Terastral Festival.
Prismatic Evolutions Reveals Paradox Pokemon Secret Rares
Up until this point, we’d received a look at 14 of Prismatic Evolutions 32 Special Illustration Rare cards. They are:
- Leafeon ex
- Teal Mask Ogrepon ex
- Flareon ex
- Vaporeon ex
- Glaceon ex
- Jolteon ex
- Espeon ex
- Sylveon ex
- Umbreon ex
- Gholdengo ex
- Dragapult ex
- Eevee ex
- Blood Moon Ursaluna ex
- Terapagos ex
Of those, due to its popularity and high price in Evolving Skies, Umbreon ex is the clear chase card.
While those 14 alone are likely to be enough to get fans excited (and sell tons of product for Pokemon), as part of its full set reveal, The Pokemon Company shared a look at seven more Special Illustration Rares and two full art trainer cards from Prismatic Evolutions/Terastral Festival, which you can see in the gallery below:
The new reveals are heavily focused on Scarlet and Violet’s Paradox Pokemon, with Roaring Moon, Raging Bolt, Sandy Shocks, Iron Crown, Iron Valiant, and Iron Crown all making appearances alongside Amarys, Larry, and Kieran.
As with all the Special Illustration Rare reveals aside from the Eeveelutions and Dragapult, each of these Pokemon has had a special card in the Scarlet and Violet era. Roaring Moon, Iron Valiant, Iron Hands, and Sandy Shocks all previously appeared in Paradox Rift, while Raging Bolt and Iron Crown both appeared in Temporal Forces.
These reveals only go to show how good Prismatic Evolutions is going to be, as the set looks likely to cement itself as one of the Pokemon TCG’s all-time greats. It has me wondering if I can beat the newly-set world record for most packs opened by myself.
