Pokemon Fan Designs Trading Card Based on Their 4 Year Old Son's Falinks Evolution Idea

Key Takeaways

  • A Pokemon fan creates a unique card that features a new evolutionary form for Falinks, showcasing creativity and imagination.
  • Falinks is a popular Pokemon with no evolutions.
  • Falinks appears in various Pokemon games and trading cards.

A talented Pokemon fan has made a card with an evolution for Falinks based on their son’s idea. The Pokemon franchise has introduced more than 1000 pocket monsters over nine generations. Several of them have evolutionary lines of two or three stages, with some cases like those of Charmanter, Togepi, and Eevee among the fan favorites.

But while many critters have other evolutionary stages, there are Pokemon with no evolutions, such as Lapras and Mimikyu, which only have one form, and Castform, which changes its form according to the weather but doesn’t evolve. As a result, fans often exercise their creativity to imagine what it would be like if these and other Pokemon without an evolution finally had one. This is the recent case of a Pokemon fan who created a new evolution for a pocket monster, showing off the idea in an inventive way.

Pokemon Fan Designs Falinks as a Fighting/Ghost-Type

A talented Pokemon artist designs Falinks as a Fighting/Ghost-type, and creates a concept for their fan art that impresses other fans.

Redditor lezgobobbie drew a full art card with a new form for Falinks. Named Standafalinks, this new Pokemon evolution is based on an idea from their four-year-old son, and shows a monster that appears standing and has armor in shades of grey, blue, and white, while Falinks’ armor is yellow, with red and white details. Making the fan art even more wholesome, their artwork has a custom text with skills and descriptions for Standafalinks.

Falink was introduced in Gen 8 with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Following a concept seen before with Exeggcute and Digglet, it is a formation of small bipedal creatures. The group consists of five soldiers and a leader, who march in a line in a military formation reminiscent of a centipede. In addition to Pokemon Sword and Shield, Falinks is available in Pokemon Unite, where players can buy its license for 14000 Aeos Coins/575 Aeos Gems. It is also available in Pokemon GO, with its regular form having been introduced in a Gen 8-themed event that took place in 2021. This year, the Dynamax form was added during the Max Out season.

Alongside appearances in Pokemon games, players can also buy Falinks trading cards. The first appearance of the Fighting-type was in 2020 as part of the 209 cards introduced by the Rebel Clash expansion. The critter then appeared on seven more cards, most recently in the Stellar Crown expansion, which hit shelves in September this year and brought 175 new cards for players to collect. The Falinks card, in particular, has an illustration reminiscent of a painting and is signed by the artist known as Gapao.
