Following its disastrous launch earlier this month, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 developer Asobo Studios has confirmed that the game’s access and streaming issues have now been resolved. The highly anticipated simulation title was released on November 19 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, but fans were unable to jump into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for the first few days due to severe server issues that were preventing many players from accessing the game.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was just one of Xbox Game Pass’ massive day-one releases this month, joining the service just one day prior to the launch of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which faced multiple setbacks and delays in the build-up to its launch. While Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024‘s development wasn’t anywhere near as turbulent as STALKER 2‘s, the highly-anticipated sequel did experience a myriad of server issues from the get-go, preventing thousands of players from jumping into the simulation title.

Asobo Studios Says Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Server Issues Fixed

After releasing multiple updates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Asobo Studios now says it’s “happy to report that the issues regarding access and streaming have been resolved.” In a new post on the game’s website, the studio says it has increased the distribution layer capacity to handle the immense interest in the simulator and reliability is now above 99.999%. After successfully deploying a new patch on November 22, which addressed several experience issues, the team now says it’s working on another patch for the week of December 2, which will include further stability improvements and other fixes. Following the release of the game’s second patch, a third “larger” update will then be released on the week of December 9.


One of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024‘s major features is that it allows users to use nearly all of the marketplace content from its predecessor. However, Asobo Studios says it has been forced to temporarily disable the content as there have been recent reports that some third-party add-ons “are causing significant issues.” According to the studio, some users have been unable to enter the simulator due to these issues. As such, Asobo says it has deactivated all Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 non-aircraft content from the 2024 edition until they have been solved.

While the title seems to be on the mend, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024‘s review score took a beating on Steam due to its rocky launch. Although it has since managed to climb its way back to a “mixed” rating, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launched to “overwhelmingly negative” reviews on the platform as players blasted the title due to its server issues. But with Asobo Studios now claiming that the game’s main issues have now been fixed, the title’s reviews may start to climb to that of its predecessor.
