Loki Deleted Scene Name-Drops Several Marvel Comic Characters

Key Takeaways

  • Loki’s impact on the MCU continues post-season 2, with new deleted scenes being released to fans.
  • The Bluray DVD for Loki season 2 will include exclusive content like deleted scenes and making-of documentaries.
  • Fans have been given hope for more of Loki in future Marvel projects, with rumors of a 3rd season of Loki as well as Tom Hiddleston’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday.

The second season of Disney+’s Loki may have ended a year ago, but that hasn’t stopped Marvel Studios from releasing new content. This week, fans got an unexpected– but very welcome– surprise.

Loki is a fan-favorite Marvel show on Disney’s streamer, just as Tom Hiddleston’s iteration of the trickster is a fan-favorite character. The second season of the show was well-reviewed, earning an 82% (AKA ‘certified fresh’) rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has had far-reaching effects on the MCU. The inclusion of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in Deadpool and Wolverine further proves how big of an impact the events both seasons of the show have had on the MCU as a whole. The Loki finale sees Loki becoming the God of Stories after making the ultimate sacrifice to save the multiverse (and, more importantly, his friends). It seems Loki is destined to be alone, but time will tell if that will last forever.

Loki sheds his skin as the God of Mischief and becomes something much bigger within the MCU’s multiverse.

If you thought Marvel was done with Loki, think again! As a special Thanksgiving treat for fans, the studio gave Variety an exclusive deleted scene to share via X. Loki has gotten on the wrong side of seemingly endless Marvel characters, both on the big screen and on the pages of the comics. The new scene highlights some of his many past foes, some which have made it to the MCU and some that haven’t. Amora, Absorbing Man, and Hercules are some that particularly standout. Fans of Agents of Shield will remember the appearance of Absorbing Man, but other than that the character has yet to truly make it to the MCU. Amora– AKA Enchantress– is another iconic Marvel villain we haven’t gotten to see in the films so far– despite a well-planned fake-out with Loki‘s Sylvie character in season 1.

This scene is likely one of many that will be included on the Bluray disc, which was announced in October. Other features include the entire second season in 4K UHD, a gag reel, a featurette delving into Loki’s history in the MCU up to now, and the making-of documentary that has come to be expected after the release of a new Marvel project. Disney+ is also set to release Bluray editions of season 1 of Hawkeye, season 3 of The Mandalorian, and season 1 of Ahsoka.

The future of Loki (both the show and the character) is up in the air as of right now. Hiddleston is one of the few remaining members of Phase 1 of the MCU, making him an important symbol for fans who have stuck with the MCU since its beginning. Luckily, fans seem confident that this won’t be the last we see of him. And they have a reason to. Even though the show ended in late 2023, fans have recently been given hope that there is more in store for everyone’s favorite not-so-bad guy. There are also reports that Tom Hiddleston will return in the next installment of the Avengers films, Avengers: Doomsday.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Loki are currently available to stream on Disney+, and season 2 will be on Bluray on December 3rd, 2025.
