Sometimes a player’s favorite gameplay mechanic is decorating. Mirthwood has it all. Take a break from fighting bandits and mythical creatures and from flirting with townsfolk. Your farm will be a whole lot more cozy with decorative furniture pieces and paintings in it. You can even expand to a second floor.

Players can either purchase or discover decorative pieces used in their homes. Paintings are a great way to spruce up your blank wall. Keep in mind that you must repair your interior in order to place paintings. Some paintings are easier to find than others. Here is how to find the Family Heirloom painting.

“A painting of your family, saved from the fire.” |
The Family Heirloom is a rare and unique painting that can become softlocked early in the game. The only way to get this painting is by finding it in the prologue before your game in Mirthwood starts; if you did not collect the painting during the introduction prologue, you cannot get it in your playthrough anymore.
While playing the introduction to the game where you must prepare dinner for your family, wait until the town is burning, and once you wake up in the fields, immediately return to your house. Your house will be directly to your right when you wake up. Inside your burning house, you will find the Family Heirloom sitting on the floor above the table; keep in mind that there is also a lootable chest near the bed, containing a Simple Black Cote, and a Health Elixir.
Players cannot sell paintings. When in your inventory, decorative pieces can be found in your selection wheel, beside your health potions. Select the painting from here to place it in your house in Build Mode.
