There is a lot to do in this game, such as combat, exploration, and quests. But, heading into it without proper guidance can be overwhelming if you’re not used to the genre. These beginner tips are here to help you prepare for everything to come in this mysterious world full of intriguing creatures.
Choose Races Based On Their Initial Skill
There are a total of five different races to choose from in the game. Each race comes with a unique initial skill that can drastically affect your playstyle in the early game. You can also choose a preferred class after hitting level ten on your character.
While each race’s initial skill is unique, you can learn the initial skills of other classes by acquiring skill scrolls as you progress through the game, enhancing your options in combat. However, that won’t happen until a lot later, and you will have to rely on your race’s unique initial skill in the early game.

Sturdy makes you immune to any attacks that would knock you back, while also auto-parrying attacks for a short duration. |
Make sure that you choose a race that suits your playstyle, because initial skills are very powerful and can change the tide of combat in a second. You will also have to learn when to use these skills to get the most out of it in any situation.
You can purchase skill scrolls from the shop inside the Sanctum, as well as from vendors in field zones.
Practice Parrying As Much As Possible
Parrying in this game is fairly easy as the parry window is quite large and even if you fail, you will most likely block the attack or take reduced damage. However, getting used to the animation of certain enemies when they are about to attack can take a fair amount of practice.
An easy way to figure out the parry window is to press the block button and look at how long the barrier continues to flicker before stabilizing. If your opponent hits you during the flickering duration, you will execute a successful parry.
Successfully parrying an attack leaves your opponent stunned for a short duration, allowing you to continue with your offense. You can also parry multiple enemies at the same time if they choose to attack you at the same time.
Some ranged and physical attacks from bosses are incredibly difficult to parry, so it’s best to focus on blocking in boss battles.
Get The Recovery Skill Fast
As soon as you get your first skill points after leveling up, you should immediately get the Recovery Skill first thing in the game. As the name suggests, the skill allows you to slowly heal your health at the cost of a small amount of MP.
The recovery effect is canceled if you get hit, and you can’t activate it during combat. You will either have to activate this skill outside of combat or while rushing away from enemies so you don’t get hit. Unlike HP, MP recovers over time, so this skill allows you to sustain yourself whenever you’re exploring outside the Sanctum.
Invest Your Stat Points In Vitality
You will get hit a lot, and this is not an understatement. Many low-level enemies can kill you very quickly if you get surrounded by them and the best way to survive is to invest a good chunk of your stat points in Vitality, which will increase your max health.
Investing stat points in Vitality also ensures that you get the most out of your Recovery Skill because, at a higher skill rank, the amount of total health recovered will far exceed your max HP if your Vitality is low. The longer you stay alive in this game, the better it is for you, because you will have to progress all the way from a teleport point again if you die.
Use Recall Often
Progressing from one teleport point to the other outside of the Sanctum to reach new areas can be a chore. If you feel like you need to go back to empty your inventory, report a quest, or purchase consumables, it’s best to use the recall spell to return to the base immediately.
Using the recall skill or dying in a field zone activates a teleport point inside the sanctum, which allows you to teleport back to the last teleport point that you used outside the Sanctum. It is an incredibly useful skill that can come in handy a lot during your playthrough and when you simply don’t want to walk back to your base.
Train In Sanctum Catacombs
Sanctum Catacombs is the perfect place to farm experience and level up early on. There are three level brackets that you can choose from. The best thing about the Sanctum Catacombs is that you resurrect close by and can repeatedly go and continue from where you left off.
This allows you to defeat foes that might be a few levels ahead of you, which can get you a lot of experience to level up and hit level 10, so you can pick a class and be significantly stronger. You can also find good equipment and weapons inside the chests as you complete the trails of the Sanctum Catacombs.
Use Jump Attacks Often
Jump attacks can be your bread and butter against tough opponents. Due to enemies constantly spawning around you, the best combat strategy is to run away while dealing damage, and the jump attack allows you to do exactly that.
The jump attack allows you to dash in the air, while also dealing a tiny chunk of damage to the enemies you dash through during the attack. It can allow you to tear down enemies slowly, which might be too much for you to fight against head-on.
Use Shield With A Weapon
As you level up, the items in Sally’s shop get upgraded, allowing you to purchase better-quality items. If you’re using a single-handed weapon such as a longsword, it’s best to equip a shield as well. Some shields give a passive defense bonus, which is in effect even while you’re equipping a shield alongside a dual-wield weapon, such as daggers.
You should check the damage threshold listed under the shield’s description. Any attack from a creature that falls under the described threshold is automatically blocked sometimes, allowing you to defeat low-level enemies with ease, without having to worry about their attacks.
