Which Controller is best for Haven in Valorant

Team composition can make or break your experience when it comes to winning games in Valorant. While having great aim and movement mechanics is essential for any FPS like this one, having the right utility to play off one another will determine whether battles will be very hard fought or not.

Controllers are an essential agent to have on every team and on every map. This role will effectively help orchestrate pushes for attackers and will help in defending areas around the map by blocking vision. That said, different Controllers work best on each map and it’s important to know which one to select.

1 Abyss: Astra

Astra works great on Abyss thanks to her multiple stars that allow her to place smokes and to even act like a Sentinel for slowing down pushes or punishing rushes. Her ability to place down smokes from anywhere on the map make it easy for her to supply her team with support and to possibly even orchestrate fakes.

The best part of Astra’s kit is her Cosmic Divide, which will enable the team to enter the different sites without worry of being shot through smokes. One way to use it is to use the wall to block enemy vision and bullets while forcing a plant and retreating to post-plant positions.

2 Ascent: Omen

Omen is a great pick for Ascent because of his ability to use his Paranoia to blind common areas where enemies will be holding. This includes spots like B Garage entrance and by Generator on A. His smokes also work great on Ascent thanks to many surfaces where you can place a one-way.

Shrouded Step is also useful on Ascent because there are spots where you can take advantage of height, such as the top of Generator and some boxes on mid. It can also be used to teleport to advantageous areas secretly to catch enemies off guard.

3 Bind: Brimstone

Brimstone is good on Bind because his smokes are dense in a way that enemies will hesitate to push through them. They’re also large enough to cover wide gaps and peeking spots, such as Heaven on A. His mollies are also good for clearing cubbies and tight spaces, which are common on Bind.

Brimstone’s viability on Bind is also dependent on your team composition. If you’re lacking in pushing ability, you may want an aggressive Clove instead. If you think you need more support in Defense, an Astra or a Viper can work well.

One thing in Brimstone’s kit which makes him powerful on Bind is his Orbital Strike ultimate, which can take care of clearing Hookah, Lamps, Showers, and almost the entirety of the B site.

4 Haven: Omen

Omen works great in Haven because plenty of angles can be easily taken using his Paranoia. A Long, an essential area to take control of on Haven, can instantly be secured with his ability. Shrouded Step also works well here, with the many corners such as behind doors and boxes in Garage.

Of course, Omen’s smokes are also sufficient here and certain boxes on Haven can provide advantageous one-ways. Omens can also take advantage of the multiple elevated surfaces on Haven by using the Shrouded Step to get on top of the unpredictable angles.

5 Pearl: Astra

Astra is the best Controller to select when it comes to Pearl. Her ability to place smokes from anywhere quickly is essential for such a large map. Also, she can work as a second Sentinel with her Gravity Well and Nova Pulse that she can situate in different site entrances.

One of the greatest abilities that Astra can offer on Pearl is her Cosmic Divide. On B, her ultimate ability can be used to force a plant for B Long. Likewise, it can be used to defend a defuser open to B Long. It can also be used to quickly take control of at least half of A site. Overall, no other Controller can work as well as an Astra on Pearl.

6 Split: Omen

Omen works well as a Controller on Split. His smokes can be used as a one-way for spots like the box in Ramen located mid, so that the Top Mid player can hold it safely. With so many boxes and surfaces to get on, his Shrouded Step can also be used to stand on angles that enemy crosshairs won’t normally be on.

Also, Omen’s Paranoia is great for clearing common corners, especially since it can go through walls and blind multiple layers of an area. A team can easily take Heaven on A or B with a fast push paired with the Paranoia.

7 Sunset: Omen

Sunset is another map where Omen is viable. With his Shrouded Step, he can easily get across Cypher Trapwires. Common areas where these are found are B Main or Top Mid. He can also use it to get on top of advantageous surfaces, such as the box inside Market to see over any smokes or walls.

His Paranoia also works great for blinding enemies during a push. This can help in taking Elbow on A or even A Link. It can also be used to incapacitate enemies standing in Market or either side of the site on B.

8 Breeze: Viper Or Harbor

Being the huge map that it is, Breeze requires long walls instead of smokes in order to help a team take control of a site, especially as attackers. The Viper wall is extremely powerful on Breeze because it can cut up either of the sites entirely. Harbor is useful in the same way.

Either Controller also have great ultimates to use for the map because of their size, with Viper’s being better thanks to the vision blocking that hers can perform. Harbor’s Cove is great on Breeze as well because planters and defusers can be protected from bullets easily thanks to gunfights being often long-range on the map.

9 Lotus: Omen

On Lotus, an Omen is a great Controller to pick. Omen’s smokes are perfect for cutting vision in essential areas, such as Stairs and Waterfall, and the one-way smoke for Mound is very powerful. It’s also great to have him because Lotus has three sites, and the range of his smokes as well as his quick rotate capabilities will be helpful.

His Paranoia can also help for taking tight spaces, such as A Tree, A Link, and B Main. It’s also an extremely powerful ability to have to stop or counter C pushes, because it can be thrown from behind the rotating door in B Main.

10 Icebox: Viper

Viper’s kit is perfect when it comes to picking a Controller for Icebox. Her wall is essential for attackers pushing B, cutting off vision from both B Snowman and top of B Site. For defense, her wall can be used to either push up into an aggressive angle towards B Green, or to cut the attacker’s vision on A Site entirely.

Icebox is great for lurking and catching enemies from the flank. Viper can be used as a flanking agent because her smokes can be easily put up with a press of a button from anywhere on the map.

Her ultimate is also extremely powerful on Icebox, because it can cover up large areas on both sites. This is powerful for both attacking and defending teams alike.
