As Honkai: Star Rail moves on to the Amphoreus chapter in Version 3.0, HoYoverse is also expanding its multiverse. Initial teasers showed that Amphoreus is a Greek-inspired planet with key characters known as the Chrysos Heirs, a group of chosen people tasked to “Flame-Chase” or pluck the gods’ Coreflames. This may be a new concept for some Honkai: Star Rail fans, but long-time HoYoverse players will recognize that Flame-Chase is also a reference to Honkai Impact 3rd.
Since its release, Honkai: Star Rail has introduced alternate versions of characters from other HoYoverse games, like Seele and Bronya. So, it’s no surprise that the game is incorporating a well-known group from Honkai Impact 3rd called the Flame-Chasers into the Amphoreus arc. What will be interesting to see is how Honkai: Star Rail‘s Chrysos Heirs will differ from Honkai Impact 3rd‘s Flame-Chasers.

The Hoyoverse is a web of complicated parallel worlds, and Honkai: Star Rail’s Astral Express Crew may be the perfect group to untangle it.
Honkai: Star Rail’s Chrysos Heirs Has a Honkai Impact 3rd Connection
Honkai: Star Rail‘s Golden Epic trailer details that Amphoreus fell into an age of darkness after the war between gods and mortals. Following the millennium-long conflict, a distant prophecy called on the Chrysos Heirs to revive Amphoreus and reignite the planet’s Coreflames. So far, there are 12 known members with different tasks, but only eight were officially introduced as future playable Honkai: Star Rail characters. As mentioned, the act of plucking the Coreflames is called a “Flame-Chase,” making the Chrysos Heirs the equivalent of Honkai Impact 3rd‘s Flame-Chasers.
The Flame-Chasers are a group of 13 MANTISes from the former anti-Honkai organization MOTH. It was formed following the Tragedy of Binding, where the majority of MANTIS super-soldiers perished, leaving the surviving Flame-Chasers led by Elysia. The MANTISes were originally created with the genes of Honkai Beasts to defeat the sickness that’s infecting many people in Honkai Impact 3rd‘s worlds. Each Flame-Chaser has a rank based mainly on their strength and proficiency at fighting, among other factors.
MANTIS, or Massively Augmented Neo-Tech Integrated Soldiers, have superhuman abilities and innate Honkai resistance.
Of the 13 Flame-Chasers, only 10 are playable in Honkai Impact 3rd. Many fans believe that Honkai: Star Rail‘s Chrysos Heirs could represent each Flame-Chaser, but that might not be the case considering that both factions have different characters. The only Honkai: Star Rail character that’s a direct reference to Honkai Impact 3rd is Phainon, who bears a resemblance to Kevin Kaslana, the leader of the Flame-Chasers. Honkai: Star Rail‘s Golden Epic trailer also showed an unnamed pink-haired woman that looked a lot like Elysia, so she might show up in Amphoreus in some form too.

The crossover could have exciting implications for Honkai: Star Rail‘s story, especially if it follows the pattern of Honkai Impact 3rd‘s Flame-Chasers storyline. It’s already teased that the Chrysos Heirs will play important roles in rebuilding Amphoreus, which is quite similar to the Flame-Chasers’ mission to eradicate Honkai in their world. But only this time, Honkai: Star Rail‘s Trailblazer and the rest of the Astral Express Crew will help each other in destroying the possible Stellaron that’s hidden within Amphoreus.
There’s less than two months until Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 comes out, but fans could experience its unique collaboration with Honkai Impact 3rd early in the special “HonkaixHonkai” event that’s releasing on November 28. Plus, with HoYoverse ramping up its crossover content, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a multiverse-focused title featuring characters from Honkai: Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and maybe even Zenless Zone Zero in the future.
