How to Solve the Firefly Puzzle

How to Solve the Firefly Puzzle

Luma Island is filled to the brim with secret puzzles to find in each biome, and they all reveal treasure chests that you can loot for rare materials and other rewards. Some puzzles are a little more elusive than others, and the Firefly Puzzle is among them.

The game doesn’t give any guidance on how to find or solve these puzzles, which can make them a bit frustrating when you first run into them. You can find all kinds of puzzles across each biome, and as you progress through Luma Island, the more difficult they become.

How to Solve the Firefly Puzzle

The Firefly Puzzle can only be solved at night, which starts at about 9pm. They can be seen floating around the various biomes in the game, and if you can solve the puzzle associated with them, you’ll get a treasure chest.

To solve the puzzle, you need to capture all groups of fireflies and then lure them to a larger, blue firefly spot nearby. To capture the fireflies, you can just simply walk through them and they will start following you. If you know where all fireflies are, then you can capture them all at once and lure them to the blue set of fireflies together. Once they’ve all been lured, a little sparkle sound will play and a treasure chest will appear.

The fireflies usually appear in threes, but as you get into later game areas like the Mountain, they get more dispersed and get quite difficult to find. The best way to solve the puzzle in these cases is to first find where all the fireflies are and the blue spot where you need to lead them. Once you have this information, grab the fireflies and get them to the spot as quickly as you can – because they won’t follow you forever.

The rewards you get from the chest depend on where you solve the puzzle. So, if you find Fireflies in the Forest, for example, you’ll get rare materials from that biome and Forest Nature Tokens. Solving it in the Mountain, however, will get you Mountain-specific rare materials and Mountain Nature Tokens. You’ll also get various other materials as rewards, and some of these materials can be quite rare to come across.

The treasure chest will also drop some materials that you’ll need in the Jewelrycrafter profession, as well as materials you’ll need to repair various buildings in town and Tool Tokens. The Nature Tokens can be used at the Mushroom Man’s shop for various items like fish indigenous to that biome, Everseeds, and Luma Power Food which will let you get an extra Luma Energy every day, and the Tool Tokens are needed to upgrade your tools.

You can do the puzzle over again because it refreshes after a few days, and you’ll get a treasure chest each time. The only requirement for solving the puzzle is that you discover it at night, and it will refresh every day so you can get the treasure again. The puzzle also doesn’t move, so if you know where to find Fireflies in Luma Island, you can go back and solve it to your heart’s content.
