During chapter two of Ravenswatch, you have to deal with dangerous birds, Jinns, Gnolls, and giant crabs. If you manage to survive all of them, though, you have to fight the most deadly enemy of the second chapter: the Faceless Master Nightmare.
This is, of course, the battle that is 18 minutes in the making, as it’s what you spend all of chapter two preparing for. So, naturally, it’s a fairly challenging duel against the very creepy creature. It might be tough, but it’s still a winnable battle. Here is everything you need to know to achieve victory over the faceless monster.
Preparation
The process of preparing to face the Faceless Master Nightmare is similar to what you would’ve had to do for the chapter one boss. You simply need to gain experience and acquire upgrades. You will want to be at least level seven before taking on the boss.
So, don’t mess around fighting random enemies. Instead, head towards the different points of interest on the map. Kill the creatures there and complete whatever activity it is.
Vision Towers, Chests, Grimoires, and Side Quests are particularly good for making yourself more formidable. Plus, if you died a few times in chapter one, you may want to save up some shards and locate the Altar of Heroes to grab another raven feather. Also, seeking out some healing fountains to increase your maximum health could be helpful for the upcoming battle.
If you don’t need any feathers, you could use your shards at Sandman’s store to improve some of your talents.
There are also nightmare tumors on the map that you could take out to weaken the boss. Each one destroyed removes 20 percent of the creature’s health.
However, you do have to fight three waves of tough enemies to do that, which could do serious damage and even force you to relinquish a feather. So, it is a risk to try to take out the tumors.
Faceless Master Nightmare’s Attacks
The Faceless Master Nightmare has a few different attacks in its arsenal that can deal damage. These are all its moves and the best ways to deal with them:
Attack |
How To Deal With It |
---|---|
Explosive Balls The creature spits out explosive balls on the battlefield. |
The balls have a red circle around them to show what area they will hit. Just try to avoid stepping in those circles. |
Direct Laser Attack An aiming reticle will appear on the ground, and the boss will fire a laser in that exact spot. |
It’s almost impossible to miss the aiming reticle, so when you see it, simply move away from it. This is the boss’s easiest attack to avoid. |
Spinning Attack The boss pulls its ‘arms’ out and continuously spins while heading in your direction. |
Thankfully, the creature doesn’t spin for very long. Once it starts, head as far away from it as possible and keep moving away while it’s spinning. If you keep enough distance, it will stop spinning before it gets you. |
Laser Spin The boss crouches in the middle of the battlefield and shoots out three lasers, then spins. |
When you see the three red lines on the battlefield, showing that the boss is about to unleash the lasers, stand directly in between two of them. Then, when it starts spinning, head in the same direction as it’s going. If you’re fast enough, the lasers will stop before one catches up to you. |
Laser Creatures At some points during the battle, the boss spawns some laser-firing creatures to join the battle. |
Right before these creatures fire lasers, there is a red indicator of where they’ll shoot. Avoid their blasts and attack, as killing them all stuns the boss and removes them from the fight. |
How To Defeat The Faceless Master Nightmare
The Faceless Master Nightmare isn’t completely impervious to damage, but like other bosses in the game, it would take a long time to destroy them without stunning the creature first.
To stun it, you need to take out all of the little laser-firing characters that spawn on the battlefield. They aren’t there from the very start of the battle, but they won’t take long to spawn, and once they do, they’ll begin firing out at you.
Once they’re there, put all your attention on taking them out. When they’re all killed, the boss will fall to the ground, ready for you to attack.
You can unleash a decent amount of damage on the monster before they get back up. Then, wait for the laser creatures to appear again and repeat the process.
Depending on your skills, you will need to get the boss down two or three times before you can completely deplete their health.
