When is the Dead by Daylight Bone Chill event 2024? These days, it feels like one DBD event is barely finished before the next begins – but we’re not complaining. Fresh out of the Haunted by Daylight Halloween event and the latest 2v8 limited-time mode, it’s time to ready up for the Bone Chill winter event.
Now in its fourth year, Bone Chill returns to the horror game with some familiar features, alongside brand-new mechanics. A new Event Tome gives you the chance to pick up new wintry Dead by Daylight cosmetics, both DBD killers and survivors can jump into Snowmen to trick the enemy, and a brand-new map debuts with the launch of the event. We’re yet to see if there’ll be any new DBD codes to celebrate the event, but here’s everything else we know about DBD Bone Chill 2024.
DBD Bone Chill release date
The Dead by Daylight Bone Chill Winter event 2024 takes place from December 12 to January 7, 2024, at 11am EST / 4pm GMT. The event features new rewards as well as the launch of the new Ormond map.
As you might expect, this year’s Bone Chill event sees the return of our favorite spooky snowmen. Both killers and survivors can hide inside these creepy snow monsters, either hiding or waiting to surprise unsuspecting prey. However, uninhabited snowmen aren’t safe, as they too can give you a fright when you get close.
There are thrilling – or is that chilling – new mechanics coming to snowmen this year, in that they can now move around by themselves, so you never quite know whether there’s a player inside or not.
If you participated in the recent Haunted by Daylight event, the next new feature might sound familiar. You can collect snow skulls from snow piles again and throw them at players for fun, but, this year, you can also save them up and trade them in for an event item: Instant Snowman. Carry the item around and instantly turn yourself into a snowman decoy to throw your opponent off the scent – hopefully.
Finally, some new chests will be appearing during the event. These wintery chests – complete with a ribbon – only hold high rarity items, so you know you’re going to get something good if you’re lucky enough to be the first to spot one.
Ormond Lake Mine map release
Perhaps the most exciting part of the 2024 Bone Chill event is the addition of a new map: Ormond Lake Mine. This new map is technically part of the latest chapter, but was not released alongside the new killer and survivor. Instead, the snowy location was saved to coincide with the winter event. From December 12, you can check the new Ormond map out for yourself, and you can increase your chances by using the existing Damaged Photo offering – though this can also take you to the Ski Lodge.
DBD Bone Chill rewards
As ever, a huge amount of rewards are available during the event, including cosmetics, Bloodpoints, and more. These rewards include a snuggly new fit for Nea and a truly chilling outfit for The Huntress. New frosty weapons, shirts, and eyes cosmetics, plus badges, banners, and charms are also available for competing event challenges.
