Best XMG Builds In BO6

The XMG is a powerful LMG in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This LMG variant of the XM4 is a surprisingly nimble weapon that can melt through dozens of enemies before it needs to reload. But once you initiate that reload, you’ll be stuck unable to return fire for what feels like an eternity.

Turn the GPR 91 into a lightweight assault rifle with these builds.

Fortunately, you can somewhat mitigate these issues with the right attachments and playstyle mindset. Fight next to objectives and anchor near important areas, and you’ll dominate most lobbies with the XM4. Let’s showcase a few builds to help with that, showcasing an anchor-focused build and a more mobile configuraiton that uses the unique Crossbar attachment.

  • +Penetration Damage

The XMG is fantastic for an anchor-heavy playstyle, suppressing an entire area with gunfire. We build heavily into this playsytle with Extended Mag II, doubling the magazine size to allow you to recklessly shoot down hallways and corners. FMJ will also allow you to kill enemies through walls with little issue, which can be incredibly strong in objective-heavy modes.

This build is fantastic for destroying scorestreaks.

For accuracy, we use a Compensator and a Vertical Grip to substantially reduce your weapon’s overall recoil. We also use a red dot optic to better track targets during a gunfight. A Target Laser is useful for delaying aim idle sway, and the Heavy Stock attachment effectively eliminates incoming flinch in combat. With all these attachments together, you can lock down objectives and tight chokepoints with this gun alone. Hold down the trigger and don’t let go.

Column Three Guardian

LMGs promote a more anchor-heavy playstyle, making this the perfect weapon to pair with the Strategist specialty. You can use Guardian to trigger HP regeneration while fighting on an objective. Fast Hands gives you a way to instantly swap to your secondary weapon when you need to reload your XM4 but can’t find a safe spot to do so. Finally, run Flak Jacket to survive the stray lethal grenade that lands near you.

Since you’ll be fighting near objectives, you need to run a Trophy System as your Field Upgrade. Lethal equipment spam is a serious issue in objective modes like Hardpoint, so having a Trophy System by your side will ensure you’ll survive for more than a couple seconds. Mow down any enemies that come into your line of sight, and you should come out on top.

Pros And Cons

Advanced Stats

Compensator (Muzzle)

  • -35% Recoil Gun Kick
  • -35% Vertical Recoil Control

Crossbar (Underbarrel)

  • Crossbar ADS
  • +Aim Down Sights Speed
  • +Aim Walking Movement Speed
  • -Vertical Recoil Control
  • ADS is replaced with focused hipfire
  • -13% ADS Speed
  • +19% ADS Strafe Speed
  • +10% Vertical Recoil

Quickdraw Grip (Rear Grip)

Infiltrator Stock (Stock)

Recoil Springs (Fire Mods)

  • -8% Recoil Gun Kick
  • -8% Recoil

If you’re looking for a more close-range build, you can’t go wrong with a Crossbar. ADS is replaced with a focused hipfire mode that’s incredibly accurate and allows you to strafe quickly, similar to tactical stance. You can further boost your strafe speed with the Infiltrator Stock, giving this weapon comparable mobility to an assault rifle. A Quickdraw Grip will also help with overall ADS speed, which does affect how long it takes to aim with the Crossbar installed.

Despite the in-game description, the Crossbar’s ADS mode is technically
not
hipfire. It’s unaffected by hipfire attachments, notably the Steady Aim Laser.

Recoil will still be an issue with a Crossbar, so you’ll need to fix it with your remaining attachments. A Compensator and Vertical Foregrip will fix your vertical and horizontal recoil patterns, respectively. Throw on Recoil Springs as your final attachment for additional recoil control. If you prefer, you can drop Recoil Springs for a larger magazine or laser of your choosing.

We’re recommending the same perk setup as our last build, but with one notable difference, swap Gunfighter for Perk Greed. We don’t need the extra three attachments on the Crossbar build, so we’ll take Tac Mask instead for tactical equipment resistance. If you don’t mind flashbangs and stuns, you can use Scavenger or Dispatcher instead.
