Celeste is a powerful Hunter in Supervive because she is extremely versatile and useful in large team fights. Her Ultimate is capable of stunning an entire enemy squad if it’s used in the right situation, and when combined with Void to teleport you into the middle of the chaos, it can completely turn a fight in your favor. She also has great mobility with her Skate dash ability and zoning with her Frozen Barricade.
This guide covers Celeste’s best gear, a skill overview and skill upgrade priority list, as well as some general gameplay tips.
Celeste Build Basics
Here’s an overview of the best weapons and upgrades to take on Celeste.
Best Weapons For Celeste
Then the upgrades are situational, for the most part.
- Manablade into Mindblade.
- Techblade into Interweaver, Power User, or Amplifier, depending on the sort of game you have.
Interweaver is the best standard upgrade for Techblade as it provides a flat damage boost whenever you use your LMB, Celeste’s Ice Spear.
Power User can be super fun if you’ve managed to open some early Vaults and have collected some interesting powers – Nukes, in particular, can get pretty silly with Power User.
Amplifier can be used to charge up Celeste’s Frozen Barricade or her Ice Spear for max comic effect, although whether this is actually strong or not really depends on how you use it.
Builds in Supervive are generally straightforward, but all three of these weapons offer distinct playstyles. As you learn the Hunter (and the game) you can make the decisions about which weapon to take and upgrade on the fly.
Skill Overview
- Chill (Passive) – Celeste’s passive inflicts the Chilled effect on enemies. If enemies are knocked down when they have this passive applied, they explode and deal damage to nearby enemies.
- Ice Darts (RMB Attack) – Celeste’s basic attack fires semi-homing ice darts that will inflict the same shatter/explosion attack on an enemy if you hit the same enemy eight times. The attack also has a ramping effect: the last three darts are larger, travel faster, and deal more damage.
- Ice Spear (LMB) – The LMB attack fires an Ice Spear that explodes on impact, Slows enemies, and then explodes with a follow-up AoE attack.
- Skate (SHIFT Dash) – Celeste skates along the ground – she can cross the abyss while skating, enemies take 2x damage from Celeste’s basic attack while she’s skating, and you can cancel the dash earlier to refund some cooldown.
- Frozen Barricade (Q) – Celeste summons a large ice barrier that travels in the direction it’s fired. It has 1000 health and can push back enemies.
- Chilling Finale (R Ultimate) – Celeste becomes invunerable and summons a large AoE of ice around her. After a short delay – marked by the bar above Celeste’s head – she detonates the surrounding area, damaging and stunning enemies that are caught inside.
Skill Priority
- Skate (SHIFT Dash)
- Ice Spear (LMB)
- Frozen Barricade
- Chilling Finale
- Skate (SHIFT Dash)
- Ice Spear
- Ice Spear
- Chilling Finale
- Frozen Barricade
Like most other Hunters in Supervive, you want to take the Dash first, as it’s extremely useful in early team fights – either to engage, or to escape if the fight doesn’t go your way. This is even more important with Celeste as the Skate effect allows her to deal double damage with her basic attack.
Then you want to take Ice Spear, then Frozen Barricade, then your Ultimate; overall your aim is to max out your Ice Spear as it deals the most consistent damage out of your kit.
Celeste Gameplay Tips
Celeste excels best during coordinated team fights. Her Ultimate ability – Chilling Finale – really needs follow-up from your team to succeed. Additional stuns from your teammates, like an Oath, Void, or Shrike to chain stuns on enemies impacted by your Ultimate can be completely devastating.
As a solo Hunter, Celeste is a little harder to master, although her damage output is excellent if you can land your Skate – Basic Attack – Ice Spear combo consistently. Lead with your Skate, ramping up your basic attack by hitting the enemy, then stun/slow them with Ice Spear to land your most powerful darts at the end of the combo.
A good Celeste will be able to judge when it’s the right time to engage. Engage on your own or at the wrong time, and you’ll likely be knocked, as once Celeste initiates her first combo she doesn’t have much follow-up damage or any means to escape.
Celeste’s Frozen Barrier is also excellent at closing down choke points, forcing an enemy team to move from islands, or to prevent your team taking too much damage as you flee.
