Gems are one of the most important things to keep a collection of in Disney Dreamlight Valley. They’re an essential material for crafting furniture in the game, both for fun and for completing various story and character quests. This goes for The Storybook Vale expansion, too, which introduces multiple new gem types, including Magma and Pure Ice.

And while these two gems are needed for quests and crafting, they have another use, too: feeding the baby dragons you find in the Everafter! If you want to feed these critters their favorite food, you’ll need to stock up on either Magma or Pure Ice (or both!) to ensure they keep their bellies fed. They’re equally happy to eat either!
Here’s where to find Magma and Pure Ice in The Storybook Vale and how to speed up the grinding process just a little.
Where To Find Magma In The Storybook Vale
You can find Magma by mining in any of the areas within the Mythopia biome. Unfortunately, the nodes here share a spawn with Rubies, too, so it can be a pain to consistently find Magma. Rubies are already available in the base game, so it’s especially frustrating when one pops out instead of the lava-encrusted gem you’re after.
Make sure you bring a mining pal along so that you can be sure to always get a second Magma when you find some.
Where To Find Pure Ice In The Storybook Vale
You can find Pure Ice by mining in any of the areas within the Everafter biome. As with Magma, the nodes here share a spawn, too, but at least this time it’s with another new gem, Star Sapphire. This means that you won’t feel quite as disappointed when hitting Star Sapphire nodes instead of Pure Ice, as you’ll need both for crafting and questing.
Again, bringing along a mining companion can speed all of this up considerably, granting you an additional Pure Ice (or Star Sapphire!) each time you find one.
Keep grinding away to build up your stock of Magma and Pure Ice, and be sure to leave some in your inventory for when you come across one of the adorable little baby dragons scattered throughout the Everafter. Leaving them hungry makes you a monster. You’re not a monster, are you?
