When is the next Fortnite update? There are constant changes coming to Epic’s title. We’re getting more of that than ever now the game has expanded to include Festival, Lego, and Rocket Racing. The update schedule can be tricky to stay on top of though. If you want to plan around the updates coming to Fortnite, it can pay to know when the game’s going offline.
Looking through the latest Fortnite patch notes, the game has been getting tons of updates lately. Especially with Fortnite Remix. That’s been bringing in a new POI, Boss, and Mythic, every single week. However, the update release dates have slipped a little bit. How far are we from the next Fortnite update? Typically, it’s only ever a few days or two before we see another update arrive. This is how Epic’s update schedule works and the answer to when is the next Fortnite update!
When Will the Next Fortnite Be? Epic’s Schedule
Updates are normally a little hard to predict, at least to the exact week. We know they come on Tuesdays but Epic sometimes gets on a weird schedule where they become unpredictable. This season we’ve received weekly, but the days of the week have varied. typically between Tuesday and Thursday. The last two seasons have seen a ton of hotfixes too. Which have been arriving pretty randomly just to fix broken items. Outside of that, content drops have had a familiar schedule.
Provided that Epic doesn’t change their plans, this is the Fortnite update schedule we’re expecting over the next few weeks:
- November 30th – Next Major Update
The Next Update Begins Chapter 6
The next Fortnite update won’t be a normal patch, but the launch of a brand-new season and chapter. With the Juice WRLD Fortnite update, it seems we’ve gotten our final patch of Remix. All the content is now there, and the game is ready to move on.
While we could get a hotfix for one of the current bugs or overpowered weapons (the Legacy AR in particular is destroying lobbies right now), it seems like this is it for Remix. When can actually expect this update to come?
Since it’s the end of a season and the beginning of a new Chapter, it’s a bit of a wait between the downtime and launch. The current season is scheduled to end with a Fortnite live event on November 30th. Then, on December 1st, we’ll see a new Fortnite Chapter begin. That’s when we’re expecting the next Fortnite update!
Downtime could be a little longer since we’re heading into a new season. We’re expecting it to still happen overnight though. Not a few days of like the Black Hole transition for Fortnite’s first Chapter change.
When are Fortnite Updates?
The next Fortnite update usually arrives at the same pace, on Tuesdays. At least during the opening part of the season, most Tuesdays see an update hit. In terms of more substantial patches, they’re typically on a bi-weekly basis. But Epic seems to be alternating between dropping bigger updates and smaller patches. Every other Tuesday we get something added to the game!
If you want to know when the next Fortnite update is, the most likely answer is normally next Tuesday! Outside of season end and start dates, like where we are now. These more often all on weekends when more people can play the new content.
However, there are a few times when the game does change its pace. Since Chapter 5 launched, the game has had a few delays. The update day often fell on a Wednesday for the first season or so. For the most part, the next update usually comes on a Tuesday though, at least when Epic is up to date on their release schedule.
The other major change to updates comes with Epic’s twice-a-year breaks. This will mean we won’t get a new Fortnite update for a few weeks. But a solitary couple of weeks once or twice a year still makes Fortnite one of the most actively updated games. We’re approaching the winter break, but we’ll have a whole new Chapter to explore through the break.
Fortnite Update Schedule Breaks
The game has two breaks where we don’t see any Fortnite updates! There’s a Christmas break and a summer one. In these times, we get events in-game to keep players busy. There are no new updates in this period though.
We typically get the summer break during August. The Winter break comes over Christmas and New Years Eve. During this period, we won’t get any new Fortnite updates. However, with the events added the day the break starts, there is plenty to do.
When is the Next Update to Lego Fortnite?
Lego Fortnite has been pretty popular since it launched, even driving a new high for the Fortnite player base. The game hasn’t been as actively supported as Fortnite Battle Royale though. This game only gets intermittent updates, and doesn’t have a clear schedule. Although, it gets at least one substantial new content drop a season.
We don’t know when the next update to Fortnite for Lego will be. These typically arrive alongside a Battle Royale update though. We’ve only just had a substantial update to Lego Fortnite, so we don’t expect another for a little while still.
When is the Next Update to Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival?
Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival are two other game modes that also have different update schedules. Rocket Racing gets new tracks regularly, typically arriving with the Tuesday update. It doesn’t have seasons or major changes though.
Fortnite Festival on the other hand is a bit different. It has Festival Passes which run on its own schedule. These have been arriving every two months. New tracks on the other hand are cycled in daily! This is a rotation for songs in use and we get updates on Tuesday like the other modes to expand the overall pool of songs. The next Festival season won’t release until the current season ends.
