Naruto is the child of prophecy. He still has a huge role to play in Boruto.

Over the years, there have been different forms of the Rinnegan that the fans have been exposed to. For instance, Hagoromo Otsutsuki had a very Special Kekkei Mora level Rinnegan which offered unique abilities to him. Similarly, Kaguya’s Rinne Sharingan was uniquely different from that of Madara Uchiha, and his Rinnegan was different from that of Sasuke’s. In Boruto, the series expanded upon the concept of the Rinnegan, and various colored Rinnegan started showing up in the story. For instance, in the Boruto series, Momoshiki was equipped with a red Rinnegan on the palm of his hands. Upon consuming Isshiki, this Rinnegan became yellow. Similarly, there also exists a blue Rinnegan in the Naruto franchise, and this one is deemed to be very overpowered.

The Many Types Of Rinnegan In Naruto

  • Naruto Introduced Powerful Rinnegan Abilities
  • Boruto Expanded On Different Types Of Rinnegan

There are many Rinnegan that the fans have seen in the Naruto series over the years. The very first of these legendary eyes that fans were introduced to belonged to none other than Nagato Uzumaki, and it was purple in color. However, it must be said that this Rinnegan actually belonged to Madara Uchiha and was transplanted into Nagato at a very young age. Madara’s plan was to utilize Nagato and his Rinnegan to revive himself at some point later down the line. Following Nagato, fans saw multiple users wield this power, such as Obito, who stole it from him, and eventually, Madara Uchiha. Sasuke also awakened a purple Rinnegan in the war, and in his case, the eye had six tomoe as well. Meanwhile, Kaguya Otsutsuki had a unique Rinne-Sharingan, something the fans had never seen in the series and it offered her powers beyond human comprehension. In a way, this eye can be seen as a form of the Rinnegan as well.

When one heads into the Boruto series, new Rinnegan types are revealed to the fans. For instance, Momoshiki’s red Rinnegan gave him the ability to absorb any form of chakra and then expel it by multiplying it by many factors. After absorbing Kinshiki, he gained the power of the yellow Rinnegan, and it is safe to say that its powers far surpassed even those of the red one. Clearly, the power of the Rinnegan only kept getting more diverse in the Boruto series, and when Kishimoto designed a character known as Urashiki, fans were impressed by how exciting the Rinnegan was seemingly getting. Urashiki was shown to have two different Rinnegan. He could use a red one with six tomoe, and using this power, he could utilize Kekkei Mora level technique, called Yomotsu Hirasaka. Furthermore, he also gained a blue Rinnegan, which was unique to him and is precisely what is being discussed here.

What Makes The Blue Rinnegan Special

Urashiki's Other Form

The Blue Rinnegan was seemingly a step up from Urashiki’s Rinnegan with six tomoe. As fans know, the red Rinnegan was capable of using Yomotsu Hirasaka, which means that if the blue Rinnegan was to step up from it, then, this eye was even stronger. Unfortunately, the scaling in the Boruto anime series was completely broken, which meant that fans could not actually get to see what level of power this eye truly held. But, at the very least, some of its abilities were explained to the readers very well. Essentially, the blue Rinnegan allowed Urashiki to manipulate time, and with it, the future itself.

This is a very powerful ability, the repercussions of utilizing which even once can actually be huge.

Simply put, with the power of the blue Rinnegan, Urashiki was able to warp himself several seconds into the past. To a regular person, this appeared as if Urashiki was simply teleporting away and it was quite confusing, even to Shinobi such as Sasuke Uchiha. For any user wielding this power, this forms a perfect defensive ability against any target. Anyone daring to strike at the user of the blue Rinnegan will simply fail to do so due to the ability to warp into the past. Of course, the basic form of this power seems rather intriguing, but it only acts as a defensive ability.

The Kokugan Dojutsu is a special and powerful one in Boruto, used by characters such as Isshiki and Kawaki.

But, it can also be used in an offensive way, which grants the user a chance to essentially land a critical blow on the enemies. Simply put, by repeatedly using the ability to warp into the past, the user can gain a pseudo-future sight, which essentially allows them to see what the future holds and act accordingly. Given that this future cannot be changed, the user of the Blue Rinnegan can essentially know what is going to happen by repeatedly using their power, and then counter-attacking accordingly, potentially even ending all fights in a single blow, especially if wielded by Otsutsuki level individuals. This power was dangerous enough to cause issues for Sasuke Uchiha, and that certainly goes to say a lot about its capabilities.

The blue Rinnegan, if allowed to be used unrestrained, can offer the user power to cause havoc on the battlefield and wipe out all their enemies with perfect counterattacks. It is quite easily one of the most overpowered abilities that fans have seen, especially given that it allows the user to slip into the past.

The blue Rinnegan can also be consumed by Urashiki to gain more powers. At the end of his battle against the ninjas, Urashiki ended up consuming his own eyes, and this gave him a new transformation, with a higher level of power. Of course, this ended up taking the ability to slip back into the past away from him, but, the price to pay was certainly worth it.

Is The Blue Rinnegan The Strongest In The Franchise?

The Blue Rinnegan Is Powerful, But Not The Mightiest

Boruto Rinnegan Blue Urashiki Otsutsuki

The blue Rinnegan is certainly very overpowered. The ability to slip into the past and even see counterattacks is very dangerous. Out of all Rinnegan, it can be said that it is one of the most powerful ones. On top of this ability, this Rinnegan should also allow urashiki or any other user of this power to access the Six Paths. However, calling it the most overpowered Rinnegan wouldn’t be accurate. There are other Rinnegan in the series that are more dangerous. Madara’s own Rinnegan with the power of Limbo is certainly up there with the very best.

Urashiki Defeated by Boruto

Then, one also has to take into consideration Hagoromo’s Rinnegan, which has powers beyond human comprehension. The blue Rinnegan is stronger than that of Momoshiki, at the very least, but not as strong as that of Hagoromo.
