13 Iron Leaves

Type: Grass/Psychic

Iron Leaves is a Grass/Psychic-type Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. It was introduced as a special Tera Raid and is clearly a future version of Virizion. This Pokemon is the only one that can learn the move Psyblade, which is, strangely, the only damaging Psychic-type attack it knows.

Although it is a variant of a legendary Pokemon, it does not have that designation. While Iron Leaves is still incredibly strong, you need to take notice of its multitude of weaknesses. Its immense Speed and Attack stats are easily countered by Flying, Poison, Bug, Ghost, Fire, Ice, and Dark-type attacks.

12 Wo-Chien

Type: Dark/Grass

The Treasures of Ruin are a legendary Pokemon group found in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Paldea region. Wo-Chien is the Dark/Grass-type member of the quartet. It isn’t as useful as its counterparts, but as a Legendary Pokemon, it will triumph over a majority of non-Legendary creatures.

It has a whopping seven weaknesses, many of which are incredibly common in Paldea. Thankfully, Wo-Chien has a base Defense of 100 and Special Defense of 135. That allows it to retaliate after taking some damage with its powerful signature attack, Ruination. When Ruination lands, it reduces the target’s HP right in half.

11 Arboliva

Type: Grass/Normal

Arboliva brings a unique combination of Grass/Normal-typing, which stands out in as one of the few Pokemon with this unusual pairing. As the final evolution of Smoliv, obtained when Dolliv reaches level 35, Arboliva gains an immunity to Ghost-type moves due to its Normal typing… a handy advantage in battles. However, this type combination also increases its vulnerabilities, making it weak to a range of types.

While Arboliva isn’t built for physical attacks, it truly shines in the Special Attack and Special Defense categories. With a base Special Attack stat of 125 and Special Defense at 109, it’s capable of dishing out powerful moves from a safe distance, effectively supporting its team with energy-based attacks and holding its own defensively.

10 Toedscruel

Type: Ground/Grass

Despite its resemblance to Tentacruel, Toedscruel is not a Paldean regional form but an entirely different Pokémon species. This unique Ground/Grass-type Pokémon evolves from Toedscool at level 30 and brings distinct advantages to any team. Its typing grants immunity to Electric-type attacks, a significant perk for players looking to round out their type coverage without choosing the Grass-type starter.

Toedscruel is also a speedy Pokémon with access to a versatile move set, including moves that counter its own type weaknesses. This versatility, combined with its availability early in the game, makes Toedscruel a practical addition to your team and a solid option for dealing with Electric and Rock-type foes.

9 Brambleghast

Type: Grass/Ghost

Brambleghast joins the ranks of Grass/Ghost-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, bringing a unique twist to the lineup. To obtain this ghostly tumbleweed, catch a Bramblin and evolve it by walking 1,000 steps using the Let’s Go feature before leveling it up. Once evolved, Brambleghast reveals itself as a swift attacker with a strong base Attack stat.

Its standout feature is its unique ability, Wind Rider. This ability grants an Attack boost whenever Brambleghast is hit by a wind-type move or when an opponent uses Tailwind, turning it into an unexpected powerhouse. This combination of speed, attack strength, and situational buffs makes Brambleghast a versatile addition for players looking to surprise opponents.

8 Leafeon

Type: Grass

Leafeon, the Grass-type evolution of Eevee, is often overlooked among its counterparts, but this underestimation does it a disservice. Trainers can evolve Eevee into Leafeon by leveling up near a Moss Rock or by using a Leaf Stone, making it a relatively accessible choice compared to some of the rarer Eevee evolutions. Leafeon’s excellent offensive and defensive stats make it a valuable asset for those who give it a chance in their team.

If you’re lucky, you can catch a wild Tera Leafeon in the mountains west of Los Platos and near Casseroya Lake.

Boasting a 95 base Speed stat, Leafeon often outspeeds its opponents, allowing it to strike first and maximize its formidable 110 base Attack. With its 130 base Defense, Leafeon can also hold its ground, withstanding physical attacks better than many Grass-types. This combination of speed, power, and durability makes Leafeon a potent fighter that’s ready to take on a wide range of challengers.

7 Abomasnow

Type: Grass/Ice

Abomasnow stands as one of the more fearsome Pokémon, embodying a powerful yet dangerous mix of Grass and Ice types. Evolving from Snover at level 40, Abomasnow brings balanced stats and access to a variety of moves that make it a formidable choice against Dragon-types, among others. Its intimidating appearance and ability to whip up snowstorms add to its reputation as a fierce competitor.

However, Abomasnow’s strengths come with substantial vulnerabilities. With weaknesses to Fighting, Flying, Poison, Rock, Bug, and Steel-type attacks – and a double weakness to Fire-type moves – careful planning is crucial to keeping Abomasnow safe in battle.

6 Scovillain

Type: Grass/Fire

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet introduced the very first Grass/Fire-type to the franchise. Scovillain is the one and only of its kind and evolves from Capsakid when exposed to a Fire Stone. The unique creature is known as the Spicy Pepper Pokemon, as its name is a play on the word Scoville, which measures the heat of peppers.

The two types put together drastically reduce its weaknesses, making it only weak to Flying, Poison, and Rock-type attacks. When it comes to battling, both its Attack and Special Attack have a base of 108. This allows you to utilize a variety of moves against your opponents.

5 Breloom

Type: Grass/Fighting

Breloom, introduced in Generation Three, is a powerhouse Grass/Fighting-type that evolves from Shroomish at level 23. Despite its seemingly humble origin as the Mushroom Pokémon, Breloom brings an intensity to battles that few Grass-types can match. Its unique type combination and ferocious fighting style made it popular in both the games and the anime series, where it was often shown as a relentless competitor.

While its other stats may be average, Breloom’s base Attack stat of 130 is staggeringly high, outpacing heavy hitters like Gyarados, Heracross, and even the Legendary Terrakion. With access to powerful moves like Spore and Mach Punch, Breloom offers a blend of high Attack and versatility.

4 Appletun, Flapple, And Dipplin

Type: Grass/Dragon

Appletun, Flapple, and Dipplin are all unique evolutions of Applin, each representing a different facet of the Grass/Dragon-type combination. While they share the same base stat total of 485 and type effectiveness, their stats are distributed differently, giving each one a distinct role in battle.

Appletun, evolving with a Sweet Apple, is slow but focuses on Special Attacks, making it a bulky special attacker. Flapple, which evolves with a Tart Apple, is faster and geared toward Physical Attacks, excelling at offense with its high Attack stat. Finally, Dipplin, evolved using a Syrupy Apple, serves as a tank with its high Defense, designed to take hits and support your team through its durability.

3 Brute Bonnet

Type: Grass/Dark

Brute Bonnet is a Paradox Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. This is a Scarlet exclusive as it comes from the past. Paradox Pokemon are past and future iterations of existing Pokemon but are considered their own species in the Pokedex.

Brute Bonnet is a Pokemon Scarlet exclusive. If you have Pokemon Violet, you’ll either need to trade with a friend or join their game to add it to your team.

You will encounter this Grass/Dark-type variation of Amoongus in the post-game content. When you get a chance to catch it, you may be set with a Grass-type on your team. Brute Bonnet should not be overlooked, though. While slow, it boasts a base Attack stat of 127 and a base HP stat of 111.

2 Ogerpon

Ogerpon is the legendary Pokemon of Kitakami, the center of the DLC’s main story. While it doesn’t have any evolutions, it compensates with the ability to shift between four unique forms, each corresponding to a different mask. Each form alters Ogerpon’s type and Terastallization, allowing it to adapt to various battle situations and making it a flexible addition to any team.

In addition to its versatile forms, Ogerpon is currently the only Pokemon that can use Ivy Cudgel, a powerful physical move with 100 base power and perfect accuracy. This move automatically changes type to match the mask Ogerpon is currently wearing, allowing it to take advantage of STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) while countering specific threats, making Ogerpon a formidable and adaptable opponent.

1 Meowscarada

Type: Grass/Dark

In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, the Grass-type starter Sprigatito evolves into Floragato before reaching its final form, Meowscarada, at level 36. At this stage, it gains the Dark type alongside Grass, giving it a unique Grass/Dark typing that adds both versatility and offensive potential.

Meowscarada excels in speed and power, boasting a remarkable base Speed stat of 123 and an impressive base Attack stat of 110. This makes it an ideal choice for fast, high-damage strikes. Its signature move, Flower Trick, takes advantage of Meowscarada’s stats with a combination that never misses and always lands as a critical hit.
