Get your hands on all of the Royal Tools in a flash and start exploring the Valley!
As you build a friendship with Merida, you’ll unlock more quests that help restore the Bind and connect her to the community she’s lost touch with over the years. The first step is getting rid of those pesky Snippets, and Merida has a few ideas. Here’s everything you need to know to clean up the Bind and help Merida feel at home.
How To Break The Mossy Logs
When you reach friendship level two with Merida, you can talk to her about clearing up the Bind. Getting the Snippets under control will take a bit of work, but lucky for you, Merida learned some great hunting advice from her father.
The first bit of advice she gives is that you need to control the terrain. Merida has a potion from the Library of Lore that can help you break the mossy logs around the Bind. Use it, then take your Royal Shovel and remove six of the mossy logs around the area.
If you can’t find any,
try waiting a few minutes
for more mossy logs to appear!
Return to Merida when you’re done to continue to the next step.
How To Craft A Snippet Trap
The next bit of advice is to use everything you can to your advantage, trapping your prey. In the case of Snippets, that means building slow traps. Merida gives you the recipe in case you haven’t learned the blueprint yet!
You’ll need the following materials to craft the trap:
- Opal (1)
- Sorcerer Hat Hermit Crab (1)
- Pine Cone (5)
- Moss (10)
- Storybook Magic (500)
Take everything to the nearest Crafting Station when you’re ready and build the Basic Fall Leaves Slow Trap. This will reduce the speed of all nearby Snippets by ten percent, allowing you to catch up to them much faster!
There are several different types of traps you can build, so make sure you craft the right one for this quest.
Place the trap in the Bind, then return to Merida. She tells you that the next bit of advice is to be patient and requests that you head out to capture at least ten Snippets.
If you can’t find any, just give it time. Snippets will reappear after a while, so you’ll have plenty to catch. After you’ve acquired all ten, bring them to Merida.
How To Rearrange A Tale
The next step is to make use of the Snippets. No, you won’t be eating them–you’ll be returning them to the Lorekeeper. Head into the expansive library and rearrange one of the stories.
You may need to catch more Snippets before you can unlock a new story!
With a new story restored and the Lorekeeper slowly regaining her power, Merida is thrilled. She gifts you with a Storybook Frame to proudly display any story you repair in your home. Place it in your house, then return to Merida to complete the quest.
