Grandma Has Been Playing the Same Game for Over 10 Years

A gaming grandma has gone viral for playing what appears to be LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues for over a decade. LEGO Indiana Jones 2 was one of the earliest LEGO video games from Traveller’s Tales. A follow-up to LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, LEGO Indiana Jones 2 was the first game in the series to leave the PS2 behind, launching only on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

LEGO Indiana Jones 2 closely follows the LEGO game formula that had been already been well-established by the LEGO Star Wars games and the LEGO Indiana Jones that preceded it. Players go through levels based on Indiana Jones movies, with the films’ events recreated in a humorous, slapstick style. Each stage is full of collectibles and LEGO objects to smash, plus there is a large HUB world to explore as well. LEGO Indiana Jones 2 earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its release, but that hasn’t stopped one gamer from making it their game of choice for over a decade.

A viral TikTok video by user jaxgibson that has amassed over 118,000 thousand likes at the time of this writing highlights his grandma, who has been playing LEGO Indiana Jones 2 for over a decade. According to the video’s description, the gaming grandma purchased the game for jaxgibson so they could play together when he was a kid, but she never stopped playing. Professing that she “loves” the game, jaxgibson’s grandma has earned over 1.2 billion LEGO studs in LEGO Indiana Jones 2 on the PlayStation 3 and counting.

Gaming Grandma Goes Viral

The TikTok video has nearly 1,000 comments, with many of them asking jaxgibson to hook their grandma up with a new LEGO video game. LEGO Indiana Jones 2 was followed by a slew of other similar games from Traveller’s Tales, including two LEGO Harry Potter games, various LEGO Marvel and DC games, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, the toys-to-life LEGO Dimensions, and more.

The latest LEGO series video game is 2022’s LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Many fans were excited to see the LEGO game franchise return to its Star Wars roots, as evidenced by the game’s impressive sales, but the project was criticized for serious technical problems. Traveller’s Tales has yet to announce its next game, though there are reports that some of its projects have been canceled. In the meantime, some non-Traveller’s Tales LEGO games have been released, like LEGO 2K Drive and LEGO Horizon Adventures, but they have failed to make as much of an impact.
