Delta Force release date, gameplay, and news

When is the Delta Force release date? The Delta Force series was introduced back in 1998, establishing a foothold in the tactical shooter genre for the following decade. Much to the dismay of fans, the series disappeared, but it has returned 15 years later with a new look, a new developer, and new game modes, all while reinventing the fan-favorite Delta Force: Black Hawk Down.

As we wait patiently for the FPS game, we’re being kept up-to-date with dev diaries, trailers, and the Delta Force Hawk Ops alpha playtest. The game was known as Delta Force Hawk Ops until August 20 when the devs shortened it down to Delta Force. While we know all the Delta Force Hawk Ops operators, and some maps coming at launch, we all want to know when we can expect the Delta Force release date.

Delta Force release date

Following a successful Steam Next Fest run, the Delta Force release date has been pulled forward to Thursday, December 5, 2024. Originally planned for early 2025, Delta Force is coming to PC in December, with consoles to follow.

This initial release is considered a “global open beta”, but is – for all intents and purposes – a full PC release version, with live-service seasonal content and no progression resets.

While it has not been specified which consoles the game is launching on, trailers released on the PlayStation YouTube page suggest that Delta Force is most likely coming to PlayStation consoles at some point. The 2024 open beta is confirmed as PC only, though. According to an FAQ, console release is still planned for Q1 2025.

Delta Force gameplay

Delta Force features the reinvention of the original Black Hawk Down campaign from 2003. This beloved campaign has been reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, updating the look and style of the single-player campaign for both new and returning players.

While the Black Hawk Down campaign takes place in 1993, we get a chance to peek into the future with a new campaign set in 2035. Here, you’re investigating the illegal activities of the Haavk Corporation using modern technology and tight teamwork.

There are two main multiplayer modes: Hazard Operations and Havoc Warfare. Hazard Operations is an extraction mode akin to the likes of Tarkov. You set your loadout before dropping in with two teammates and go about collecting and extracting the most valuable resources you can find. In Havoc Warfare, you’re one of 32 players going head-to-head in a chaotic battle to be the last player standing. Claim various POIs across a large map to secure victory.

Delta Force trailers

The first full trailer for Delta Force, as you can see above, does a brilliant job of showing what to expect from the new game as it switches between 1993 and 2035. Starting off in the past, we’re soon transported to 2035 and Operation Lightning Strike, where technological advancements have led to new and intriguing weapons. As the trailer continues to switch between the two timelines, we can enjoy the stark contrast between the two eras we’ll be exploring in Delta Force.

The more recent cinematic trailer, meanwhile, gives us a better idea of what to expect from the latter-day campaign. Presumably narrated by the game’s antagonist, the leader of the Haavk Corporation, we are told about his advancements and his belief that this technology is the future. In some ways, it seems he may be right, as the tech our operators have access to includes exoskeletons, high-tech radars, and healing guns.

There have also been a bunch of map and mode videos uploaded to the Delta Force YouTube channel, alongside a string of informative dev diaries. The Summer Game Fest 2024 trailer above dives into the futuristic single-player campaign from a more on-the-ground gameplay perspective.

Searching for something called a Mandel Brick in a nearby tourist center, we’re confronted with the fact that Haavk Corp beat us to it, and we need to take them down using stealth and speed to reach the objective first. We get a glimpse of the Black Hawk Down campaign from the ground, giving us a closer look at the terrified civilians trying to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

On the run-up to launch, there have been several trailers over the last few weeks that highlight gameplay details, including some of the Delta Force weapons and guns at your disposal. The developers have also talked about Delta Force Season 1, touching on the new things coming to the FPS, including new maps, weapons, and more.

Team Jade has been more than forthcoming already in the lead-up to the Delta Force release date, and we think there’ll be plenty more to see before the day comes. While you wait, watch others play and earn some Delta Force Hawk Ops Twitch drops, or jump into one of the best PC games around right now.
