Fortnite has some pretty solid anti-cheat, but with a game that has so many players there’s always going to be someone finding their way through the cracks. Lately, they’ve become a major problem. Especially in tournaments where Fortnite cheaters regularly occupy the lobbies. A crackdown has been announced by Epic, to try and fix the Fortnite cheaters problem right now.
Fortnite cheaters are often banned, but that doesn’t stop them from entering tournaments regularly. While their winnings are often stopped before the payout happens, they definitely disrupt things. Having so many cheaters in one lobby means we don’t get a fair idea of how the event would actually look. They’ve been particularly focusing the events with a lower entry requirement, like Zero Build Solo Victory Cups. However, with this new crackdown, things should be changing soon.
Crackdown Coming on Fortnite Cheaters
If you’ve seen recent Cash Cup footage, you’ve likely noticed Fortnite cheaters seem to be growing. After a lot of complaining recently, Epic has announced their plans to address Fortnite cheaters.
To start, they’ll be taking legal action. This is against both cheaters and those who sell the cheaters tools. Trying to cut cheat software off at the source like this might actually make an impact on things. Next, there changing how cash prizes work to try and make the Fortnite esports events harder to game.
At the moment, cheaters focus on the more casual events. Those that don’t require you to spend a ton of time grinding Ranked, risking getting caught cheating. They’ll also be issuing competitive bans or anyone caught cheating, hopefully, to try to weed out cheaters more permanently. This ban will also disqualify them from the FNCS.
While cheaters don’t tend to make final sessions up against the best players, the FNCS qualifiers could be an easier tournament to get access to. Especially considering the changes made for next year, with an earlier qualifier taking place. This is better for viewers too. Less cheaters messing up lobbies, fewer wildcards if you’re looking at Fortnite betting too.
Hopefully, these changes can help to stop the Fortnite cheaters from continuing to get in the way of tournaments.
