Lunchly is a joint venture between MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI. The three introduced the Lunchables-like product, which seemed to immediately generate both controversy and excitement. One of the most concerning reports came in October, when YouTuber Rosanna Pansino uploaded a video claiming she’d found mold in the cheese of a Lunchly she’d purchased. Additional reports claiming the same followed, as well as an alleged recall, which was actually a hoax.

Now, speaking in an interview with Oompaville, MrBeast has spoken out regarding the mold allegations. Referring to the Lunchly allegations as “stupid,” MrBeast expressed that the products are USDA-inspected and that there’s no mold present when the product leaves their factory. He went on to claim that they have the “best experts in the world” inspecting the products. He also pointed at other products, claiming that anyone could find numerous reports of people saying the same things about mold in other Lunchly-like products, though he refrained from calling out any brands like Lunchables by name.

MrBeast went on to state that the manufacturer has no control over how the product is treated after it leaves the factory. In addition to blaming refrigeration issues, like a product being left on a shelf and put back in the fridge, or a buyer’s refrigerator not working properly, MrBeast suggested that a seal could be broken while the product is being shipped. Logan Paul said more or less the same thing back in October when he defended the brand, specifically noting that the USDA examines everything before it leaves the factory and that the seals could be broken in-transit.
As the Lunchly products are still shipping and being manufactured, it would seem that the USDA and FDA haven’t found any significant problems with the manufacturing and packaging process. Whether more complaints about mold arise remains to be seen, but it does seem plausible that some sort of mishandling of the product may have occurred after it shipped and led to the mold. However, while Lunchly isn’t MrBeast’s first foray into the food industry, his prior efforts with Feastables and Beast Burger haven’t been without controversy, either.
