- Parallel Quests in Xenoverse 2 provide side missions that reward items, costumes, and techniques.
- Characters like Kid Buu, SSGSS Goku, and Bojack offer unique abilities beneficial for Parallel Quests.
Unlike other fighting games, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 prides itself in being an open-world experience, allowing players to explore Dragon Ball’s story, embark on a new one in Xenoverse 2’s story mode, as well as roam around to encounter various villains along the way. This not only ensures there’s always something new to do, but this mechanic locks interesting content behind certain activities within the game. One particular Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 mechanics players should take note of is Parallel Quests, essentially side missions with unique stories that reward not just currency but items and unlockables, such as costumes and even techniques.

Dragon Ball: Craziest What-If Stories From The Games
The Dragon Ball games present players with some incredible what-if scenarios. These are the most absurd that you’ll come across.
Thankfully, players don’t immediately have to take on these quests alone. In fact, they can take some ally characters with them to ensure they have a fighting chance in some of this Dragon Ball game’s most intense quests.
Updated November 26, 2024 by Rhenn Taguiam: With Dragon Ball Sparking Zero taking the world by storm with action-packed multiplayer fights, fans of the acclaimed franchise might be eager to try their hand in other Dragon Ball titles just to loosen up in the middle of their matches. Among games for players to try would be Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, where they can create their own characters and save the multiverse with seven years’ worth of expansions.
Not only that, despite the game’s age, it’s still releasing updates – with the most recent one being that of Future Saga Chapter 2, which provides players with quite an exhilarating story with the future at stake. And should players want to grow their characters at an accelerated pace, Parallel Quests are the way to go for their rewards – with recommended allies to take include Dragon Ball Z’s most dangerous villain, Gohan’s rival, as well as Android 18’s twin brother.
1 Kid Buu
Chase Opponents With A Teleporting Vanishing Ball
Default Skills |
Pearl Flash, Majin Kamehameha, Vanishing Ball, Maximum Charge, Teleporting Vanishing Ball, Super Vanishing Ball, Angry Shout |

Hooohohohohohoho!: +15% Boost Dash (Always) |
When Goku and the Z-Fighters squared off against the absorbing Majin Buu, little did they know his Kid Buu form was actually one of the most ruthless villains they would ever face. Touted as a being capable of being a threat to the entire universe, it took a massive effort from Goku, Vegeta, Gotenks, and the other Z-Fighters to put an end to his onslaught. As such, it makes sense for Kid Buu to become a menace of an ally during Parallel Quests.
In Parallel Quests where an ally also fights AI opponents, it’s important to guarantee that the player’s allies are attacking opponents in the first place. Since melee fighters who get kicked out of range often find a hard time getting back in the fight, Kid Buu gets the advantage with his repertoire of long-ranged attacks. Specifically interesting in his arsenal is his Teleporting Vanishing Ball, where Kid Buu first creates a shield before creating a massive ball that will teleport toward the opponent’s direction. This move guarantees that Kid Buu has an attack they will always try to launch at opponents, with the attack’s successful connection dealing 30% damage across 15 hits.
2 SSGSS Goku
Get A Guaranteed Aimed Kamehameha
Default Skills |
Super God Shock Flash, Burst Kamehameha, Instant Transmission, Charged Ki Wave, Warp Kamehameha, Super Kamehameha, Spirit Explosion |

It’s a bit of a long story…: -100 Stamina to opponents who get hit by a Charged Ki Blast |
Back when Freeza first achieved his Golden Form, Goku’s transformation into the Super Saiyan God became one of the best reveals in the Dragon Ball series. After all, a “transcended” form that uses the Power of the Gods is something grand, even for Goku’s scale. It’s for this reason that it came as such a surprise that a Super Saiyan God Goku can tap into his inner Saiyan strength to turn into the blue-haired SSGSS Goku.
Considered the apex among Super Saiyan forms, SSGSS Goku is notable in a game like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for his heavy-hitting long-ranged attacks and ability to strike up close and personal whenever needed. As a Parallel Quest ally, his Warp Kamehameha can give players an incredible edge as this means Goku can charge a Kamehameha and teleport to an opponent to launch it – dealing 30% damage across 24 hits. This added guarantee that Goku will teleport to a target can give players peace of mind that their ally will have an active contribution in combat.
3 Bojack
Gohan’s Rival To Whittle At Enemy Life Efficiently
Default Skills |
Trap Shooter, Reverse Launcher, Psycho Barrier, Maximum Charge, Grand Smasher, Instant Rise |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
Now, give your father a message for me: +20% Normal Attacks, to take effect 90s after battle starts |
Due to how AI allies in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 don’t necessarily guarantee that they will chase after players, the safest choice for players to get would be allies that have abilities to get up close and personal with enemies whenever they get the chance. Such a character to pull this off is Bojack, the ruthless leader of the Galaxy Soldiers and Gohan’s movie rival in the Bojack Unbound film. While he didn’t stay as a villain for a long time, Bojack became Gohan’s path to ascension into a hero who was willing to do what it takes to save the world.
Bojack’s status as a threat is cemented in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 thanks to his Revenge Launcher. With this skill, Bojack launches a Ki ball before teleporting toward the opponent and firing another Ki ball upside down – dealing 5% damage over two hits. Despite its low damage count, Bojack’s Reverse Launcher is more important as a guaranteed teleport to the opponent, as this gives Bojack room to constantly attack opponents without players having to give them the opening.
4 Android 17
The Deadly Other Half Of Android 18
Default Skills |
Freedom Kick, Consecutive Energy Blast, Super Drain, Charged Ki Wave, Full Power Energy Blast Volley, Super Electric Strike, Energy Field |

Getting beat up makes me cranky: +5% Ki Auto-Recovery (Always) |
Before Cell makes himself known as one of the Earth’s biggest threats in Dragon Ball Z, he first has to absorb his “siblings” – Androids 16, 17, and 18. Whereas Android 16 had developed a fondness for life on Earth, his siblings Android 17 and Android 18 developed a penchant for destruction. Since the end of the series, Android 18 has become a housewife and one of the more powerful Z-Fighters, whereas Android 17 has become a forest ranger. And if there’s anything his performance in the Universe Survival Saga in Dragon Ball Super had proved, he’s not exactly a slouch.
This is further demonstrated to players of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 should players pick Android 17 as an ally. Thanks to his Super Soul, he’s constantly recharging his Ki – something useful to him as he has a plethora of long-distance attacks. However, perhaps more interesting in his kit is his Freedom Kick, a skill that makes Android 17 loop around the sky and kicks the opponent down to deal 10% damage. Should Android 17’s AI use this while the opponent is knocked down, this skill will track them – guaranteeing more consistent attacks.
5 Golden Frieza
Straightforward Ki Blast Powerhouse
Default Skills |
Emperor’s Edge, Emperor’s Blast, Emperor’s Death Beam, Psychic Move, Crazy Finger Shot, Maximum Charge, Last Emperor |

The Gold Represents the New Me: Get +20% Normal Ki Blasts |
After the events leading to his resurrection, Frieza trains and attains an even more powerful “perfected” form known as Golden Frieza. This Frieza transformation cements the sheer regality of Frieza as a tyrant, preferring not to deal damage up close. Reflected by “The gold represents the new me” Super Soul, Golden Frieza enjoys much stronger normal Ki Blasts, cementing a long-ranged approach.

This Super Soul complements the rest of his toolkit well, particularly ranged attacks such as explosive launcher Emperor’s Edge, focus fire Crazy Finger Shot and stunning Emperor’s Blast. Most importantly, his deadly Ultimate Emperor’s Death Beam can dish out a minimum of 40% damage over 15 hits depending on how much Ki he possesses.

That Won’t Work On Me!: When hit with an Ultimate Attack, get -50% Attack Reduction from all attacks |
Fans of Dragon Ball Super would recognize Kamikaze Fireballs leader Ribrianne, boasting quite the flair for leadership. However, despite her short stint as a character in Dragon Ball Super, she remains a force to reckon with in Xenoverse 2. Her Super Soul, “That won’t work on me!” capitalizes on her tankiness, as hitting her with an Ultimate Attack will trigger its one-time effect of hugely reducing damage from all attacks.
Aside from this Super Soul, the rest of her toolkit cements her position as a tank. Aside from decent attacks such as Pretty Cannon and her Ultimate Maiden Burst, she has a Full Power Charge variant called Pretty Charge, a power-up move called Formation!, and a Power Up Ultimate called Lovely Showtime that can raise her Ki and Stamina with the right charging.
7 Piccolo
Survive As Long As Stamina Is Full
Default Skills |
Sonic Kick, Light Grenade, Paralyze Beam, Maximum Charge, Hellzone Grenade, Full Power Energy Wave, Super Explosive Wave |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
I’m Neither Kami Nor Piccolo: Always get +10% Ki Blast Skill Damage. If Stamina is 100%, activate +0.6% of Max HP/second Auto-Health Recovery |
Previously a rival of Goku, Piccolo becomes one of his closest confidants throughout the rest of the series. Serving as Gohan’s mentor, it’s no surprise that Piccolo becomes the ever-reliable healer in Xenoverse 2. With his “I’m neither Kami nor Piccolo!” Super Soul, he always gets stronger Ki Blast attacks – essential for his toolkit. Not only that, but he always gets Health Auto-Recovery at maximum Stamina, incentivizing a long-ranged approach.
While AI Piccolo often heals players, he’s no slouch either. Much of his stronger attacks are Ki Blasts, with Light Grenade dealing damage across different stages, Paralyze Beam stunning opponents, and his Ultimate Hellzone Grenade being a homing attack.
8 Towa
Get Revives Faster
Default Skills |
Time Bullet, Position Shift, Bloody Sauce, Energy Release |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
Revival of the Demon Realm is at Hand: Always get -15% less Revive Time, Get +30% Ki Restoration upon battle start |
Antagonist Towa of the Xenoverse 2 story is hell-bent on reviving the Demon Realm to wreck timelines and attain power, and she is nothing to underestimate in combat. Her Super Soul, “Revival of the Demon Realm is at hand,” immediately cements the advantage on the get-go. Aside from having a much shorter revival time, she immediately starts combat with two filled Ki bars. Players interested in a quick finish may want to capitalize on this advantage and get blasting.
This Super Soul works well with the rest of her toolkit designed to debilitate the enemy’s advance. For instance, Time Bullet traps opponents in a ranged-grabbing sphere, while Bloody Sauce can either poison and/or slow down enemies. Moreover, her Energy Zone Ultimate not only blasts enemies away but heals allies inside this protective area.
9 Cooler (Fourth Form)
Weaker Attacks With A Harsh Status Effect
Default Skills |
Sledgehammer, Death Beam, Destructive Ray, Full Power Charge, Full Power Energy Wave, Supernova Cooler, Hyper Movement |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
The Real Hell Begins Here!: -15% Decrease Attack Damage, inflict Slow and Poison when Charged Ki Blast hits |
Sometimes, the best allies come in the form of characters designed specifically to give opponents a false sense of security. Such is the case of Cooler (Fourth Form), who in Xenoverse 2 gameplay retains his annoyance toward his younger brother Frieza while exhibiting a much deadlier approach to combat, similar to Cooler’s image in the films. His “The real hell begins here!” Super Soul does force his attacks to get weaker to a certain degree, but this is exchanged with a buff that both poisons and slows down opponents when hitting them with Charged Ki Blasts.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 Has to Give One of Goku’s Biggest Mentors Their Time in the Spotlight
DBZ has no shortage of characters to use in fighting games like Budokai Tenkaichi 4, but one notable hero has been absent since the beginning.
This Super Soul complements Cooler’s toolkit that focuses on strong Ki Blasts. Outside his Sledgehammer designed to get opponents away from him, he has a quick-shooting Death Beam, as well as the stunning Destructive Ray. Cooler also possesses a Full Power Energy Wave Ultimate that can deal as much as 25% damage and his signature Supernova Cooler that can deal as much as 45% damage.
10 Pikkon
Actively Get Aggro Whenever Ki Is Full
Default Skills |
Hyper Tornado, Burning Shot, Energy Wave Combo, Maximum Charge, Reverse Mabakusenko, Thunder Flash, Explosive Wave |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
This Is As Far As You Go: Max Ki will force enemies to target Pikkon for 3s, Successful Just Guard gives +50 Ki |
In Dragon Ball lore, Pikkon serves as Piccolo’s substitute during the filler arcs of the core Dragon Ball Z anime. However, Pikkon’s no slouch when it comes to combat, especially in the gameplay of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 when used as a PQ Ally. Core to his combat mechanics is his Super Soul, “This is as far as you go,” which essentially forces all enemies to target them when their Ki is maxed out. Not to mention, successfully blocking foes will restore a bit of their Ki.
Pikkon’s taunting nature makes them work well as a tanking unit, capable of taking damage on behalf of the player. Not only that, but the rest of his toolkit works well to send opponents further from the team such as knockdowns from Hyper Tornado, or punishing counter-strikes from Burning Shot and Reverse Mabakusenko.
11 Goku (Super Saiyan 4)
Get A Power Boost On Revival
Default Skills |
Super Dragon Fist, x10 Kamehameha, Afterimage Strike, Maximum Charge, Dragon Fist, Super Kamehameha, Spread Shot Retreat |

Fully-Powered Super Saiyan 4!: +15% Normal Attacks when Revived, only once |
When a mishap transforms Goku into a child in Dragon Ball GT, it doesn’t mean that Goku has become rather weak. In fact, this has paved the way for him to become much stronger than before, being able to fully master the Golden Great Ape transformation and become a Super Saiyan 4. In the context of Xenoverse 2, Goku (Super Saiyan 4) becomes an ever-reliable rushdown ally, capable of debilitating enemy ranks with his fierce attacks.

Dragon Ball: 10 Fights Goku Would Have Lost If He Weren’t The Main Character
There are several fights throughout Dragon Ball Goku should and would have lost if he weren’t the main character.
His attacks already give him a lot of room on the offense, especially with rushing attacks like Super Dragon Fist and Dragon Fist. However, his Ultimate X10 Kamehameha can become one of the strongest attacks in the game when used properly. Not to mention, his Super Soul “Fully-Powered Super Saiyan 4!” gives players an edge when Goku (SS4) dies for the first time, as his resurrected form gets boosted by normal attacks that can certainly retake the advantage.
12 Broly
Slower Stamina Restoration But Take Less Damage
Default Skills |
Gigantic Omega, Gigantic Slam, Full Power Charge, Blaster Shell, Gigantic Meteor, Blaster Meteor |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
My Ki Is Building… Overflowing…: -40% Stamina Restoration, get -20% Less Damage when Ki is 100% |
Despite his short stint as a foe in Dragon Ball lore, Broly as the Legendary Super Saiyan took the efforts of all existing Saiyans and a newfound fusion form to be defeated. In the context of Xenoverse 2, Broly becomes quite the formidable ally with his Super Soul alone. With “My Ki is building… Overflowing…” Broly suffers from a huge Stamina recovery speed debuff but also receives a massive reduction in damage taken from all attacks.
This Super Soul is coupled with a toolkit that emphasizes punishing foes who even try to get close to him. Even from afar, both his Gigantic Omega and Blaster Shell Super Skills can reach opponents with varying degrees of Ki Blast damage. Most importantly, Broly as an AI regularly spams his Ultimate Gigantic Meteor, capable of dealing as much as 45% damage across four (4) hits.
13 Super Baby 2
Take Less Damage When Near Death
Default Skills |
Variant Drive, Reverse Shot, Revenge Final Flash, Maximum Charge, Full Power Energy Wave, Revenge Death Ball, Break Strike |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
Don’t Think I’m The Same As Before!: Once when HP is <25%, get -20% Damage Reduction for 10s. However, when HP is <25%, get -15% Damage from Attacks. |
When the parasite Baby takes over Vegeta’s body in the events of Dragon Ball GT, he becomes Super Baby 2. This powered-up “fusion” form utilizes much of Vegeta’s skills, this time with a lethal twist. In the context of Xenoverse lore, Super Baby 2 easily becomes a formidable tank. Thanks to his Super Soul, “Don’t think I’m the same as before!”, Super Baby 2 becomes more durable when he reaches 25% Health. Not only does he get a one-time effect of drastically reducing damage taken, but he also spends the rest of the time ignoring large amounts of damage.
These greatly complement his aggressive take on combat. His Variant Drive is a rushdown attack with a shockwave element, while his Reverse Shot has tracking properties. Most impressive is his Revenge Death Ball, capable of dealing as much as 70% damage across 22 hits when reaching maximum charge. Considering that AI Super Baby 2 regularly spams his Ultimate, he’s quite a formidable tank in a team.
14 Zamasu
Get Revived Much Faster
Default Skills |
Heavenly Arrow, God Splitter, Shockwave, Full Power Charge, Instant Severance, Instant Rise |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
I Really Do Love Being Immortal: When KO’d will activate Auto-Revival Gauge Recovery at 40%, get -30% Less HP when Revived |
There’s no better ally than one that always comes back from the dead, and such is the case of Zamasu, the Supreme Kai Apprentice of Universe 10 who dreamt of eradicating all life and repopulating the universe with beings like himself. As a Core Person, Zamasu is practically immortal, reflected by his “I really do love being immortal” Super Soul, which always revives him after knockouts but with reduced Health restored.

Fighting Games With The Best Survival Modes
Survival games have become a trend within the fighting game genre, but only a handful of titles have proven how much fun they can truly be.
Zamasu’s immortality becomes annoying when combined with his long-ranged reliance. For instance, his Heavenly Arrow and God Splitter are rather “weak” attacks but accumulate heavy damage due to their accessibility. Meanwhile, his Shockwave is an unblockable stun that gives Zamasu and his allies openings for combos. Lastly, his Instant Severance is a powerful rush attack that can deal 40% damage in two (2) hits.
15 Gogeta (DB Super)
The Ideal Partner For Unfair Numbers
Default Skills |
Comet Strike, Meteor Explosion, Punisher Drive, Shine Shot, Super Mad Dance, Vanisher Guard, Warp Kamehameha, Super Saiyan |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
Our Two Strengths Aren’t Just Added Together: (Always) Activates Ki Auto-Recovery Mode, Stamina Recovery Speed Boost (S) |
Players who find themselves at a disadvantage fighting multiple foes at once in their Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gameplay should consider bringing Gogeta (DB Super) as their backup. This iteration of Gogeta first appeared in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, where Goku and Vegeta only had an hour to train the Metamoran Dance against the berserking Legendary Super Saiyan. Despite this rush job, Gogeta (DB Super) was able to at least contend with Broly when it comes to energy output – something his Super Soul “Our Two Strengths Aren’t Just Added Together” exemplifies.
When activated, this Super Soul always activates Ki Auto-Recovery Mode and boosts Stamina Recovery speed for a short amount – giving players a nifty backup that will usually have enough juice to dish out attacks. With attacks such as Comet Strike and Punisher Drive being combo-compatible, while the likes of Shine Shot and Warp Kamehameha are rather versatile, can make Gogeta a reliable heavy-hitter should players need the support.
16 Majin Buu
A Tanky Ally To Absorb Hits
Default Skills |
Explosive Buu Punch, Cookie Beam, Candy Beam, Innocence Bullet, Taunt, The Saviour Has Come |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
Buu Will Eat You…: When an enemy is KO’d, restore +12% Health |
When the evil Buu absorbed the Grand Supreme Kai, the goodness of the latter mixed in with the former to become the giggly Majin Buu. Despite being the villain of Dragon Ball Z’s Buu Saga, this original form is a gentle being who becomes a part of the Z-Fighters in the events of Dragon Ball Super. Interestingly enough, players of Xenoverse 2 may also appreciate Majin Buu’s presence as an Ally in Parallel Quests, especially when built as a tank.
Players who manage to build a Health-oriented preset for Majin Buu can use him in the same way tanks exist in RPGs. Thanks to Taunt and The Saviour Has Come, Majin Buu will keep enemies locked onto him. On the offensive, Majin Buu can use Innocence Bullet to poison foes while Cookie Beam heals him for 10% Health while damaging enemies for 30% of theirs. Should Majin Buu need to dodge, his Candy Beam will deal a 5-second stun. On the off-chance that Majin Buu does knock out an enemy, his “Buu Will Eat You…” Super Soul will restore him for 12% Health.
17 Hercule
A Surprisingly Competent Support Unit
Default Skills |
Dynamite Kick, Miracle Kneel, Present For You, Rolling Hercule Punch, Taunt, The Saviour Is Here |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
Hercule! Hercule!: When an ally KOs an enemy, Hercule’s and the ally’s attacks get +5% Attack. This can stack up to 10 times. |
At first glance, the cowardly Hercule doesn’t seem to offer that much of an asset in Xenoverse 2 gameplay due to his defensive toolkit. However, it’s precisely this reliance on defense that can make the in-universe celebrity one of the best Allies to bring in Parallel Quests. Similar to Majin Buu, his Taunt and The Saviour Is Here can force enemies to turn their focus on him and give players an opening to dish out more powerful moves. While much of Hercule’s kit doesn’t deal heavy damage, they can become enough of an annoyance to become detrimental to foes later on.
For instance, using his Miracle Knee for the first time will give Stamina Recovery (XL) but use up two bars of Stamina afterward. However, this move forcibly distracts opponents and leaves them wide open for a quick attack. Rolling Hercule Punch uses a similar motif, as while it only deals 5% Damage, it has super armor and leaves opponents momentarily dazed and open for a counter. Hercule’s mild annoyances work in the player’s favor, as Hercule’s “Hercule! Hercule!” Super Soul gives them a +5% Attack whenever they KO an opponent. This means bringing two of Hercule to a PQ can give +10% Attack per KO, up to a total of +100% Attack.
18 Jiren (Full Power)
Remains A Force To Reckon With, Even As AI
Default Skills |
Full Power Energy Wave, Impact Flare, Maximum Charge, Mighty Explosive Wave, Power Impact, Power Rush, Power Wall |
---|---|
Super Soul Used |
I Will Prevail, No Matter The Cost!: If Jiren has more Ki than the enemy, then he gets Attack Boost (L). However, if Jiren has less Ki than the enemy, then he activates Ki Auto-Recovery Mode. |
When Goku’s Perfected Ultra Instinct reminded Jiren of the prospect of losing, he taps into an inner power he’s never unleashed before. This Jiren (Full Power) state was enough to overwhelm Goku even with his near-perfect defense active, and players who want to enjoy their Xenoverse 2 gameplay can certainly count on this character to decimate foes in Parallel Quests. Just his Super Soul “I Will Prevail, No Matter The Cost!” alone shows how fate seems to turn to Jiren’s favor, as the character gains Attack Boost (L) when his Ki pool is larger than the opponent’s but activates Ki Auto-Recovery Mode whenever he doesn’t.
Aside from this, the rest of Jiren (Full Power)’s attacks are tailored for dealing heavy doses of damage as soon as possible. This makes bringing Jiren (Full Power) ideal for PQs that players want to finish as soon as possible. Jiren can easily protect himself at a distance, as Power Impact, Impact Flare, Mighty Explosion Wave, and Full Power Energy Wave all deal various forms of range damage towards opponents. Meanwhile, his Ultimates can come in the form of Power Rush that dishes out a 14-hit rushdown for 90% Damage, or Power Wall that releases a wall of fire capable of dealing 50% Damage with a knockback blast.
