When the K70 Pro Mini Wireless surfaced in 2022, it marked a major milestone for Corsair. As the manufacturer’s first hot-swappable keyboard, it began a trend of highly customizable gaming gear. The other notable quality of the keyboard was its ultra-compact 60% form factor. Despite its small size, the feature-packed K70 Pro Mini’s high price tag shocked some buyers. Finally, for Black Friday 2024, the keyboard is available for a fraction of its original asking price.
Mini keyboards appeal to competitive gamers only concerned with the most essential keys. Their small footprint also preserves more tracking space for gaming mice. Its minuscule 1.41 lb weight and generous onboard storage make the device practical for travelling to tournaments with. For more casual players, the K70 Pro Mini helps keep small gaming desks from becoming overcrowded. Of course, some compromises are inevitable with a 61-key keyboard, like the loss of a number pad, arrow, and navigation commands. With Corsair’s powerful iCue software, users can compensate for this lack of functionality by programming macros.
Even though the K70 Pro Mini is diminutive, it hides a beefy battery that lasts up to 200 hours without active RGB lighting. Wireless connectivity is just as impressive, allowing for pairing over Bluetooth or low-latency RF on PCs, Macs, and consoles. Corsair’s Axon Hyper-Processing technology is maximized on the keyboard with up to a 2000 Hz wireless polling rate. Inputs are registered without hesitation, giving players an advantage in chaotic FPS and MOBA battles. The K70 Pro Mini also converts into a wired keyboard, through which an even higher 8000 Hz polling rate is unlocked.
The K70 Pro Mini version is on sale for Black Friday and ships with Cherry MX Speed Switches. Not surprisingly, these linear switches prioritize rapid inputs and can be pounded on without causing a ruckus. However, the keyboard encourages owners to experiment with more clicky-sounding alternatives and is compatible with 3-pin switches. The customization doesn’t end there, as gamers can even replace the K70 Pro Mini’s rear accent bar with a variety of color options.
It’s probably not wise to purchase an RGB keyboard based on its looks alone. Still, the K70 Pro Mini goes beyond per-key lighting, extending the light show to an LED strip wrapping around all sides. Once again, iCue flexes its muscles, enabling users to create complex patterns or implement game-specific effects. Light clearly shines through the resilient PBT keycaps, and Corsair includes a replaceable spacebar that lets more illumination escape.
Not all buyers are willing to sacrifice dozens of keys to save desktop space. For this audience, the corded Corsair K70 RGB Pro full-size keyboard is also dramatically discounted for Black Friday. The much larger cousin of the K70 Pro Mini offers a complete key layout, plus a volume rocker and remappable media button. The K70 RGB Pro is also well-suited for competition, supporting an 8000 Hz polling rate.
