Secret Level could be the next big project from a creative team that already proved itself in the anthology space, and the lead creative explains how.

When Secret Level was first announced, it was confirmed to include an episode based on Firewalk’s Concord, which was still yet to be released at the time. Following low sales and the unceremonious shutdown of Concord in September, Secret Level’s episode about the game was in doubt, but it was soon confirmed it would still be released, despite there being no way for players to access the game any longer.

Secret Level’s Concord Episode Receives Trailer

Given Concord’s short life, many may be unfamiliar with its world which is something Secret Level’s episode will seemingly shed light on. A new trailer for the Concord episode of Secret Level was released on the series’ official X account, and shows a ragtag group of heroes journeying through a sci-fi world as they attempt to pull off heists around the galaxy, in a vibe somewhat reminiscent of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy or the recent Ubisoft game, Star Wars: Outlaws. A synopsis from Amazon provides further details, revealing the episode will follow Captain Cassidy and their crew of Freegunners who undertake a massive heist and must battle through an armada and space storm to make it to freedom.

“Based on the galaxy-spanning team-based shooter. Captain Cassidy’s crew of Freegunners is about to pull off the biggest heist of their lives – now there’s only a deadly armada and a cosmos-sundering space storm between them and freedom.”

Concord was a multiplayer first-person shooter that involved battles between teams of mercenaries, with players able to choose from a variety of human and alien characters with different abilities. Firewalk intended to add new characters to the game with an ongoing series of cutscenes released each week to reveal their lore and story. But merely two weeks after its launch, Concord was shutdown and removed from the PlayStation store.

Secret Level Gives Concord A Second Chance In A Different Medium

Many video game adaptations have been successful in igniting interest in their source material, with sales of games like The Last of Us and Fallout seeing a significant boost following their TV show debuts. It’s possible Secret Level could do the same for some of the games it adapts, but unfortunately, in Concord’s case, that won’t be possible. While the game is no longer available for players to access, perhaps Secret Level can ignite interest in the IP and allow it to live on in another medium.

Secret Level will be released on Prime Video on December 10.
