Given it is a survival crafting game, there is no shortage of different materials that players will need to collect as they attempt to breathe life back into the land in Towers of Aghasba. All the lootable resources serve different purposes and will be needed at different times, so it is important to take note of where and how you can acquire particular items.
One such resource that can come in handy is Kelp, as the underwater plant can take on a number of roles throughout your playthrough. Because of this, developing a knowledge of how to get Kelp in Towers of Aghasba can be crucial to your survival.

How To Get Kelp in Towers of Aghasba
Kelp is a pretty useful resource, as you can feed it to yourself, some animals, and even use it to complete some build guides, especially those involving Enchanted Dung. While it is useful, it can be a challenge to collect the material in great amounts. That’s because, until you repair the Lutoro Bridge to the mainland, you’ll only be able to collect it by going for a swim.
There are two main ways to collect Kelp:
- By harvesting ocean plants, especially Floating Trees
- By harvesting Salt Ferns in Tropical Climates
While the act of harvesting is relatively simple, the endurance mechanics in the game can make collecting Kelp underwater a little tedious. It is good to bear in mind that your stamina will only replenish when on the shore, not when you are swimming above the surface. If you’re not careful with your stamina bar, you can very easily find yourself drowned and having to start again from your nearest village.
How To Harvest Floating Trees
It can be difficult to find the right plants in your search for Kelp, especially when the seas you navigate are quite large and you are really short on time. Thankfully, the main source of Kelp is easy to identify, making it less challenging to manage your stamina and harvest at the same time.
Floating Trees are exactly as the name would suggest, and resemble regular trees that you would cut with your Stone Hatchet, in that they are rooted in the sea floor and are really tall. You’ll be able to spot this from a considerable distance, especially since they are rarely surrounded by anything else. All you need to do is approach these plants and press the indicated button to harvest it for Kelp.
How To Harvest Salt Ferns
As mentioned before, you’ll need to cross the Lutoro Bridge before you can even get into the right circumstances to acquire Salt Ferns, but even then it’ll be extra work. To get Salt Ferns, you’ll need to plant the Colossal Seed for the Tropical Ecosystem. This will require speaking with Pawel, then helping out the god Huldra. Once you complete the quest line, you’ll receive the necessary seed.
With the seed planted, Salt Fern will become a staple in your Tropical Ecosystem, so simply plant more Tropical Seeds to increase your supply of the plant. Generally, planting a Tropical Seed will result in either a Raro Tree or Salt Fern. Once you have one, simply approach it and use your Stone Shovel (or better) to harvest the material from the plant.
What Is Kelp Used For?
Kelp is versatile in that it has medicinal properties that can be passed on to the player or to the wildlife they encounter. Given one of its plants has this resource in plentiful supply, it is no surprise that this can actually be used to feed animals as well. In general, Kelp can be used for the following:
- It can be eaten to replenish a Moderate amount of health
- It can be used to heal certain animals that are injured
- In can be used to feed animalsin exchange for Dung, Amity, and other dropped items.
- It can be used to complete Fill Orders, especially those set by Enchanted Dung.
