The following contains spoilers for Season 2 of Mashle: Magic and Muscles, as well as the manga.
Key Takeaways
- Second season of Mashle left off around the halfway point of the manga, setting up the next season.
- Third season likely to cover Divine Visionary Selection Exam and Mash confronting his siblings.
- Anime fans should catch up on Mashle now, as third season promises more action and plot twists.
After two seasons, with 24 episodes adapting roughly 74 chapters of the manga, Mashle: Magic and Muscles has already left its magic mark on the anime community. While the Harry Potter parody initially turned people away from this franchise, it’s become a unique shonen comedy of its own caliber over the past few years. The second season left us off around the halfway point of the manga, giving us a good idea of how much will be adapted into the next season.
Looking at how many chapters make it into each season, it appears the anime will cover the Tri-Magic-Athalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc as well as the beginning of the Eclipse Arc; using this information, we can make an educated guess that a fourth season will eventually come out to finish off the rest of the Eclipse Arc for the anime adaptation. But as there is no concrete info to confirm the exact date of the premiere Mashle’s third season, there isn’t a way to predict when the fourth and potentially final season will come out.

Secret Family and Public Events
The last arc covered by the show was the Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc. This arc primarily focused on the yearly event, loosely inspired by the Tri-Wizard Tournament from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, known as the Divine Visionary Selection Exam, which is an event held by all three magical schools to pick the best candidate for the Divine Visionary Program. Divine Visionaries are the leaders of the Magical Beaureu, a much clearer parody of the Harry Potter franchise’s Ministry of Magic. Mash feels a lot of pressure to become a Divine Visionary now that the fact he doesn’t have magical powers is begun to spread since the events of the first season’s finale, and the main antagonist of the series is shown to be on the move, coming for Mash.
During this arc, there was plenty of world-building involved for both the world surrounding Mashle as well as Easton Magic Academy. 13 wands known as the Master Canes were revealed, which, similarly to the Elder Wand they are parodying from Harry Potter, can only be wielded by the most powerful magic users. We also learned, unfortunately for Mash, that his father is none other than the series antagonist, Innocent Zero. We also learn more about Innocent Zero’s troupe of children, who call themselves the Devil’s Quintuplets. The season ends with Mash barely passing his written test, meaning he can continue to stay and study in Easton Magic Academy, and participate in the rest of the Divine Visionary Selection Exam.
Now that Mash has finally passed his test, he can participate in the Divine Visionary Selection Exam. He has to complete multiple feats, such as being transported to a forest where they must locate a hidden key to escape. The key is concealed within an underwater creature, similar to one of the tasks in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire‘s water task. Mash succeeds in this first task, then goes on to a team-based round that takes place in an underground castle. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three teams. Upon entry, each member receives a crystal they must protect from the other teams, while also trying to take another team’s crystal. Mash’s team also succeeded in this second round, as only the first team to lose would be eliminated from the Divine Visionary Selection Exam.
What Will Happen In Season 3?
The Divine Visionary Selection Exam Finally Begins
Here is how we see it going down:
“After Innocent Zero’s interference, it was decided that Dot, Lance, and Mash would all proceed to the final examination.
The final task shown is individual duels, where students aim to knock out or compel their opponents to yield. Mash faces Margarette Macaron, among other formidable magic users, and secures victory after victory through his unique non-magical abilities. However, this round is unable to be fully completed, or is unable to announce the winner, as Innocent Zero’s reign of terror is beginning to grow stronger. Mash and his friends start training and begin fighting against Innocent Zero’s children, aka Mash’s siblings, on their way to defend Mash against Innocent Zero.
It’s hard to predict how many of Mash’s siblings we will see before the third season ends. All the siblings, in order, are Doom (First Son), Famin (Second Son), Epidem (Third Son), Delisaster (Fourth Son), and Domina Blowelive (Fifth Son). Each of them have unique abilties, and interestingly, a trait similar to their brother Mash, who is the sixth and youngest known child of Innocent Zero. That being said, these are all incredibly strong magic users who will prove to be worthy opponents for Mash.
For anime fans who haven’t started Mashle yet; now is the time to get caught up on the show. This hilarious romp through a Harry Potter parody world is more serious and heartfelt than it seems on the surface, with the same unique comedy style reminiscent of One Punch Man or Mob Psycho. The anime has plot twists both in comedy and in plot that are well worth a watch, or rewatch. Both seasons are accurate to the manga, so there isn’t a reason to catch up on both… unless you want to get ahead of the soon-to-come third season.
