Star Rail’s New Amphoreus Characters Compare to Greek Myth

Star Rail's New Amphoreus Characters Compare to Greek Myth

Honkai: Star Rail is officially traveling to the fourth planet, Amphoreus, in Version 3.0, and the Trailblazer is in for an exciting ride. There will be brand-new missions, surroundings, enemies, and even abilities from the new Path of Remembrance. Plus, in true HoYoverse fashion, Honkai: Star Rail has also teased the new playable characters that are coming out in the next few months.

Also known as “The Eternal Land,” Amphoreus is said to be a mysterious planet that not even the Aeon, Akivili the Trailblaze, has reached. Based on initial teasers, the planet has Greek-inspired elements, such as how godlike entities were responsible for the planet’s creation and a glimpse of the design choices for the surroundings shown in Honkai: Star Rail‘s Golden Epic trailer. The new Amphoreus characters also seem to be based on characters from Greek mythology and other prominent figures from Greece, which might bring an interesting touch to their personalities and backstories.

Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 is one of the game’s biggest patches, not just because of the Sunday and Fugue release, but also because of its rumored rewards.

Honkai: Star Rail’s Next Chapter Takes Inspiration From Greek Gods and Personalities

One of the known factions in Amphoreus is the Chrysos Heirs, a group of chosen people who were prophesied to pluck the gods’ Coreflames and uphold the world. There are 12 known members of the Chrysos Heirs, but Honkai: Star Rail has only revealed eight characters, who all have different purposes on Amphoreus. These characters will also likely be playable in Honkai: Star Rail in the future.

Known Amphoreus Characters So Far

Aglaea

Known as “The Goldweaver,” Aglaea bears the Coreflame of Romance, and is tasked to summon the heroes who will smite down the gods and revive the dying world of Amphoreus. In Greek mythology, Aglaea is one of the three Charities, representing beauty, glory, and adornment. She also became the second wife of Hephaestus, right after Aphrodite. Additionally, Aglaea is a 5-star Lightning character following the Path of Remembrance, who will make her debut in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0.

Tribbie

Described as having three faces, Tribbie is a messenger that travels many paths and resides with the divine ordain. It’s possible that she is a representation of Hecate, who is a Greek goddess depicted with three heads or faces and is often associated with crossroads.

Anaxa

Named after the ancient Greek philosopher, Anaxagoras, Anaxa is described as a scholar that “inquires about the prophecy and disrespects the gods.” This seems to align with Anaxagoras’ spirit of scientific inquiry, which he applied to his cosmology and other philosophical studies.

Hyacine

Hyacine is depicted as a young-looking girl and is said to be a priest who will heal the sky and rebuild the mystical realm of Amphoreus. It’s possible that she’s named after Hyacinth, a Spartan prince who became Apollo’s lover.

Mydei

In the Golden Saga trailer, Mydei is depicted as a fierce warrior, drawing comparisons to Ares, the Greek God of War. However, his full name, Mydeimos, is likely based on Deimos, a Greek deity and the son of Ares and Aphrodite.

Cifera

Also known as “The Fleet-Footed,” Cifera has cat-like qualities and is able to move quickly. So far, she is the only character with no direct references to Greek mythology. However, Cifera comes from the word “cipher,” which is a type of cryptography that the Ancient Greeks used to protect information.

Castorice

As the guardian of the River of Souls (Styx), Castorice is instantly a shoo-in for Charon, the boatman transporting the souls of the dead to the Underworld. In terms of her name, HoYoverse might have based it on Castor, who is one-half of the Gemini twins.

Phainon

Simply described as a nameless hero, Phainon is likely based on the Greek sky god and the representation of the planet Saturn, Phaenon. Many fans also pointed out that Phainon looks like Kevin Kaslana from Honkai Impact 3rd, so it is possible that he is another alternate version of an existing HoYoverse character.
