Silent Hill 2 received its first big price cut the other day when Best Buy and Amazon kicked off their Black Friday sales. The deal dropped the price of the recently released remake to $50. That offer is still available, but if you bought it, you’re in for an (unfortunate) jump scare when you look at Walmart’s deal. The retailer has discounted Silent Hill 2 to only $30, which is a ridiculous discount for a well-received console exclusive that released roughly six weeks ago.
$30 at Walmart | $50 at Best Buy & Target (was $70)
If you’re looking at this before 2 PM PT on November 25, you need to be a Walmart+ member to snag the deal. Walmart+ is $49/year right now (50% off). The $30 price is available to everyone after Walmart’s Early Access window ends. But if it doesn’t sell out before then, it probably won’t be up for grabs for long.
We’d also recommend checking Amazon’s listing, as the retailer tends to match most of Walmart’s game deals. At the time of writing, Silent Hill 2 was still $50 at Amazon, but that could change.
PC players can also snag a limited-time discount on the Steam version at Fanatical. The standard edition is down to $42, and the Digital Deluxe edition is $48 (was $80).
The original Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001 on PS2 and is considered a landmark for its genre, and the remake managed to do the impossible and recapture the same magic in a contemporary package. The new version earned rave reviews, with GameSpot’s own Mark Delaney awarding the game a 9/10 score and saying, “By staying true to the original game in extremely important ways and taking calculated risks born from an understanding of the source material, all while being supported further by some of the game’s original brain trust, Bloober Team has done what was reasonably considered near-impossible. The remake of Silent Hill 2 is a restless dream come true.”
In case you’d prefer to not have your heart jump out of your chest, there are several other games on sale for Black Friday. Anyone looking for some sci-fi action can score Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 for $50 (was $70), while Capcom’s fantasy epic open-world RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2 is down to $40 (was $70). Star Wars Outlaws is also on sale for $50 (was $70) this week, which is a perfect choice for anyone wanting to live out their dreams as a Star Wars scoundrel. Be sure to check Amazon’s site to see all the Black Friday deals on games, electronics, and more, and follow GameSpot’s Black Friday hub for even more discounts from other retailers.
