Remembering Alex McHugh – a cherished colleague

It is with profound sadness that we find ourselves reporting the death of our cherished colleague, Senior Staff Writer Alex McHugh, who passed away unexpectedly on November 17.

Alex joined the PCGamesN team in April 2024 to write news and immediately started scoring hits. He was a prolific and talented writer with a deep knowledge and passion for PC gaming. He had a particular soft spot for RPGs – his affection for Morrowind knew no bounds.

Before joining PCGamesN, Alex freelanced for a number of other sites (including Wargamer) and enjoyed stints at Blizzard and Green Man Gaming. In those nearly 13 years he held a wide variety of roles, covering everything from technical support to social media management – a testament to his adaptability and industry knowledge.

Over on Muckrack, you can see some of the work of which Alex was most proud. We loved his writing on this Kickstarter trailer for Kainga.

Alex was a popular and highly respected member of the PCGamesN team, as well as a valued Network N Media colleague. We will all miss him greatly, and are still coming to terms with this devastating loss.

A tribute page has been set up, which you can find here. If you would like to leave a message or donate to the nominated charity, Andy’s Man Club, we’re certain it would mean a great deal to his family.
