PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Portal Will Reportedly Be Restocked Soon

PlayStation's 30th Anniversary Portal Will Reportedly Be Restocked Soon

Key Takeaways

  • The 30th anniversary edition of the PlayStation Portal might be getting restocked very soon.
  • A source at PS Direct has claimed the limited edition device will be back in stock by next week at the latest.
  • Outside of the OOS forever Pro bundle, it has been the hardest item in the collection to find.

PlayStation restocked select items in its 30th anniversary collection last week and, as expected, everything that got restocked sold out almost immediately. The one item that wasn’t restocked, and hasn’t been since its pre-orders sold out, is the anniversary edition of the PlayStation Portal. However, there might still be some stock of the handheld device left over with a new report claiming they’ll be restocked soon.

That’s according to Wario64. The Twitter account noted that a source at PlayStation Direct has told them there is still more stock of the anniversary Portal to come, and that those waiting for it can expect to see it go up for sale within the next two weeks. That information was shared on Friday which means, if it’s accurate, the Portal will be restocked by the end of next week at the latest.

Now it supports cloud streaming, the PlayStation Portal doesn’t feel quite so overpriced.

Even though there has been no official confirmation from PlayStation, Wario64 is a very trustworthy source when it comes to anything related to video game retail. If they weren’t almost certain that the anniversary Portal would be getting restocked soon, they wouldn’t have shared the information with their followers. However, until PlayStation updates the store page, there’s no way of knowing when exactly that restock might happen.

The Anniversary PlayStation Portal Might Be Getting Restocked Soon

Potentially One More Chance To Buy One

The giveaway that the 30th anniversary PS5, DualSense, and DualSense Edge would be getting restocked last week came when PlayStation added a note to each of the three store pages. It informed those checking for stock that all three items were still sold out, but to check back at midday EST on Thursday. That note wasn’t added until the day before the restock happened so if the Portal is going to get similar treatment, we probably shouldn’t expect an official restock update until Wednesday at the earliest.

The Portal was criticized quite a bit when it was announced in 2023. However, the base model’s pre-orders sold out almost instantly and the device was very hard to find for a long time post-launch. It’ll likely be in demand again throughout the holiday season due to the update it received making the Portal functional without the need for a PS5.

The biggest issue many had with the Portal during its first year was the inability to use it unless the handheld accessory was tethered to a PS5. That’s no longer the case and select games available through PS Plus can now be played on the Portal without a console.
