Marvel Rivals continues to be one of the most talked-about hero-shooter games as its launch date approaches. Set to release on December 6, NetEase Games’ upcoming title invites players to embody beloved Marvel villains and heroes for thrilling 6v6 super-powered battles. With Marvel Rivals‘ content roadmap stacked with new characters in Season 0, eight maps, and various other additions, there’s plenty to be excited about.
Interestingly, while the title is garnering a lot of attention and will likely boast a substantial playerbase in December, its launch also benefits other games. For instance, not only is Marvel Rivals collaborating with games like Marvel Snap, but it’s also partnering with Epic Games’ Fortnite. Though this crossover may seem odd initially, it makes a lot of sense.

Marvel Rivals and Fortnite Are a Surprisingly Perfect Match
Fortnite Fans Can Get a Free Glider By Playing Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals‘ partnership with Fortnite was initially announced on November 11, though details about how the Chronoverses Collaboration would pan out were scarce. Marvel was Fortnite‘s first massive collaboration in 2018. Despite its various Marvel-themed cosmetics and events since, Marvel Rivals is making history as the first Marvel game to partner with Fortnite. Starting December 6, Fortnite players will have a month to obtain a Rivaled Sailer Glider for completing ten matches in Marvel Rivals.

through the Epic Games Store to earn this item. They must complete ten matches, which cannot be custom games.
Playing Marvel Rivals will grant a free Fortnite item, but it’s unknown whether this partnership will see elements from Fortnite appear in NetEase Games’ third-person shooter. With speculation that this could be the first of many crossovers between the two games, this event may lead to more cosmetics, such as fresh skins for Marvel heroes already in Fortnite or entirely new characters like Jeff the Land Shark, the Punisher, Winter Soldier, and Magik. Notably, it’s being hinted via Fortnite‘s official X account that a new Outfit would be perfect with the glider.
Fortnite May Also Add A Marvel Rivals-Themed Outfit
Fans are hopeful that the new Marvel Outfit will be Doom 2099, an alternate future version of Doctor Doom, after Marvel Rivals teased that the cosmetic should go to someone who is “causing havoc in multiple realities.” Though this could also refer to Galacta, the game narrator and daughter of Galactus, known Fortnite leakers ShiinaBR and FNBRintel have indicated it will be Doom 2099. If this turns out to be accurate, it’s likely also a free new cosmetic for players of both games.
“Fans are hopeful that the new Marvel Outfit will be Doom 2099.”
Though the addition of Doom 2099 is just a rumor, his inclusion in the crossover makes sense, considering Doctor Doom is the overarching villain of Marvel Rivals. As seen in the games’ No One Rivals Doom cinematic trailer and Marvel Rivals‘ map-specific stories, it’s because of him that different universes collide and create crises. Furthermore, a fresh Outfit would be well-timed after Doctor Doom was added as a boss to Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 4.
Overall, it’s clear that December will be huge for Marvel fans, with the hype involving globally successful games like Fortnite. Regardless of the obvious gameplay differences between Marvel Rivals and Fortnite, both games share a clear dedication to nurturing Marvel’s story and characters. Therefore, as surprising as the collaboration may be, the two could turn out to be a match made in heaven.
