When you first get started in Atlyss, you’ll be able to choose between 5 different races, and with your character, you can choose their outfit, hair, tail, head, voice, and much more. Once you have all of your chosen options, including the colors for your character, you won’t be able to change it immediately.
However, there is one way you can change your appearance later in Atlyss if you have changed your mind. You won’t be able to change the race of your character, but you can change its colors, hair, outfit, etc. Here’s how you can unlock the ability to change your looks.

Where to Change Your Appearance In Atlyss
If you want to change the appearance of your character in Atlyss, lucky for you, there is a location you can visit early on in the game. However, it will require getting a lot of materials, so you won’t be able to change your appearance immediately.
Visit the Mirror of Illusion
At the start of Atlyss, you’ll arrive in Sanctum. From here, there will be a building in the middle with the World Portal and Angela, the Mystic Guardian, inside. Head to the back of this room, and you’ll notice a purple and gold mirror. Approach this, and it will give you the opportunity to peer into the Mirror of Illusion to change your appearance. However, to change any category of your looks, such as color, head, or body, it will require one Illusion Stone each.

How to Change Your Appearance In Atlyss
Now that you’ve found the location where you can change your appearance in Atlyss, you’ll need to pick up some Illusion Stones to complete the task. There are a few ways you can get Illusion Stones, including:
- Dungeons & Enemy Drops
- Mining
- Special Events or Quests
- NPC Traders
- Crafting
Complete Dungeons With High-Level Enemies
For this first method, you’ll want to complete some high-level dungeons. Inside these, there are hidden chests that sometimes obtain Illusion Stones, and there are also enemies that will drop the item. Some dungeons that you can visit include Veilshade Caverns in the Shadowglade region, Mirage Spire found via the Skyport in Solenor City, and Twilight Labyrinth found in Moonveil Woods. Some of the bosses here will drop the item as well, such as the Echoing Shade boss in Twilight Labyrinth.
Mining In Magical Zones
The next method will require some mining, in particular Magical Zones that hold the Illusion Stones. They can be found in enchanted ore veins, though they are not very common. Make sure before visiting these locations that you have either a Magical Pickaxe or Runic Hammer ready to go. You’ll also need to have a magic spell ready or a magical artifact to weaken the ore, such as Enchant, Dispel, or Elemental Burst.
Some spots you can visit include the Crystal Caverns (The Shimmering Expanse), found beneath the Moonlight Peaks, or Luminous Hollow (Lightmist Hills), found beneath the floating hills, or even Dreamstone Caverns (Feywilds). These locations will be the easiest to start with, especially Luminous Hollow, and will give you the chance to spot some enchanted ore veins and break them open.
Completing Special Quests and Events
There are a few different special events and quests in Atlyss that can gift players with Illusion Stones on occasion. You can usually find these quests just by speaking with NPCs around each new region. Some options you have include:
- Shattered Reflections, which is given by Eliara the Seer in Moonveil Woods.
- Echoes of the Past, which can be found at the Twilight Labyrinth entrance.
- Veins of Light, which is given by Garrick near the Crystal Caverns.
As for special events, these occur seasonally and change depending on the time of the year. Some special events you can look out for include:
- Festival of Mirrors
- Astral Alignment
- Veilbreaker Tournament
Shattered Reflections is especially useful as the quest can give you multiple Illusion Stones after completing it. The same goes for Veins of Light, another quest with multiple Illusion Stones available. Special events won’t be as consistent, as you can sometimes get other rewards.
Visiting NPC Traders
There are a few NPC traders that also have Illusion Stones for sale. One of the easiest you can find is in Sally’s Store in Sanctum, selling for 300 Crowns. Some other NPCs you can visit on your journey include:
- Velastra the Enchanter, found in the marketplace of Solenor City.
- Garrrick the Miner, found at a mining camp near Crystal Caverns in Moonlight Peaks.
- Sylaris the Dreamwalker, found in the Feywilds at the Dreamstone Grove.
Crafting
You can also get Illusion Stones through crafting in Atlyss, but it requires you to first obtain the recipe. This can either be purchased from Velastra the Enchanter, or Sylaris the Dreamwalker. You can also find the recipe as a piece of loot in some dungeons, like Twilight Labyrinth or Mirage Spire. Then, to craft it, you will need the following items:
- x3 Dream Shards
- x2 Astral Dust
- x1 Essence of Light
- x5 Basic Magical Crystal
Once you have all of this, you will need to either visit a runeforge or an NPC Crafter. They can craft the item for you, but for a fee. You can also enhance the Illusion Stone with crafting buffs or enchantments if you’d like.
