Easter Eggs And Hidden Details You Might Have Missed In Life Is Strange: Double Exposure

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure is the long-awaited sequel to the first Life Is Strange game. Max Caulfield returned with new powers, and players were excited to see if any fan favorites appeared alongside her. While the game didn’t feature many familiar faces, there were quite a few references to other games in the series and previous characters.

Some of the references to previous games depend on what you chose in the past, like saving Arcadia Bay or Chloe, so some of these don’t appear for every player. Here are some hidden details and Easter Eggs you may have missed in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure.

10 Jane Doe Shirt

Max’s iconic Jane Doe shirt made a brief appearance in Double Exposure. The character famously wore this pink tee in the first Life Is Strange game.

The shirt is alongside a box of other items from Arcadia Bay. It’s a bit more obvious than some of the other Easter Eggs, but it was a nice callback for fans to see.

9 Hawt Dog Man

Hawt Dog Man is an iconic, recurring character in every installment of the Life Is Strange series. Within the world of the game, he is a character who appears in video games, comic books, and animated television shows.

He makes an appearance in Double Exposure as a Christmas ornament in Moses’ office. When Max walks by the tree, the ornament sings, prompting her to call the decoration annoying. It isn’t a true Life Is Strange game without the anthropomorphic hot dog.

8 Picture With Chloe

Fans who remember the photo of Chloe and Max during Life Is Strange 2 were excited to see what appeared to be the same polaroid again in Double Exposure. In the second game, you can find the snapshot in her stepdad’s RV.

In Double Exposure, a very similar Polaroid is shown. While it’s not the same exact photo, Chloe’s hair is longer than the events of the first game and Max is next to her. From far away, it looks like the photo from the second game.

7 Path To Overlook

Double Exposure had Life Is Strange fans experiencing déjà vu as they walked the long and winding path to the overlook to find Safi. The trail was eerily similar to the trail Max takes up to the lighthouse to meet Chloe in the first game.

In both games, Max has to follow the path to stop a potentially catastrophic event, leading to a gigantic storm. It was a nice callback to the original.

6 Erika Mori In The Credits

Fans were surprised to see Erika Mori’s name in the credits of Double Exposure. She voiced Alex Chen in the third game, True Colors. While she didn’t reprise her role as Alex, she was a part of the additional cast.

Even though Alex didn’t return, it’s neat to see a voice actor from another game in the new installment.

5 Quoting Alex Chen

Speaking of Alex, a quote in Double Exposure reminds us of the empathetic protagonist of True Colors. When you click on the skull in The Snapping Turtle, Max utters the phrase,

“Yee, and I cannot stress this enough, haw”

This is an exact repeat of the line Alex delivers when you click on a wagon wheel in True Colors. The question is, was this a true reference, or do the developers just have a particular fondness for the phrase? Regardless, it was a funny hidden detail.

4 Ready For The Mosh Pit, Shaka Brah

Fans are always dying for more Chloe references, and this game had plenty. One of the best references took place when Max was talking to Amanda in The Snapping Turtle. When you go on your imaginary date, Amanda asks if you want to join the mosh pit.

Max turns to her and says,

“Let’s thrash, shaka brah”.

While her date was a bit confused by the phrasing, some fans remembered that Max said something similar to Chloe while changing her style in the original game.

3 Pirate Girl Mural

When you’re in The Snapping Turtle, there’s a giant mural of a pirate girl on the wall. Some fans have speculated this may be referencing Chloe. It may be a bit of a stretch, but there are a few clues that seem convincing.

The two girls grew up playing pirates together. The skull necklace in the mural is similar to the t-shirt Chloe wears in the first game, and the gun saying bang is reminiscent of Chloe holding a gun and saying “bang” in the first game.

2 Power Bear Mug

Fans of Life Is Strange 2 may remember Power Bear, Daniel’s favorite superhero. He also makes an appearance in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. The superpowered bear has his own comic book by Aweso Comics.

In Double Exposure, there appears to be a Power Bear mug next to Moses and Max on the rooftop. It’s an easy Easter Egg to overlook, especially when you’re wrapped up in solving the story.

1 Max Talking To Herself If You Try To Rewind

Our favorite hidden detail in Double Exposure is Max’s reference to her old powers. A lot of players instinctively want to hit the rewind control to see what happens. If you try to use these old abilities, she tells both you and herself off for it.

“Rewind hasn’t worked in years but still – old habits die hard. Come on, Max. Gotta focus on the here and now”.

It’s a silly nod to the bond fans have with her character and highlights her growth since the previous story.
