Pokemon GO’s Max Out Season introduced a brand new mechanic called Max Battles. Max Battles appear on in-game map objectives called Power Spots, which can offer Trainers encounters with fearsome Max Battle Bosses – Pokemon who are capable of Dynamaxing or Gigantamaxing, or Max Particles, which are used to trigger this transformation in battle.
To help celebrate this new mechanic and give players even more opportunities to interact with Dynamax Pokemon, Pokemon GO has introduced a recurring event called Max Mondays, starting in the Max Out Season’s November 2024 duration. Max Mondays are essentially the Max Battle variant of Spotlight Hours, in that they are a one-hour event featuring a targeted Pokemon who will make appearances in all available Power Spots nearby. Everything you’ll need to know about the Bulbasaur Max Monday event and preparing for battle against Dynamax Bulbasaur has been included in the guide below.

Pokemon GO Max Monday: Dynamax Bulbasaur Max Battle Guide
In Pokemon GO, the Bulbasaur Max Monday event takes place on November 25, 2024, and will run between 6 PM and 7 PM local time. During this one-hour duration, all nearby Max Battles at Power Spots across your in-game Pokemon GO map will become overwhelmed with Bulbasaur Bosses, meaning Trainers have the best chance to go up against this monster and even capture it in repetition.
Pokemon GO Bulbasaur Weaknesses & Resistances
In Pokemon GO, Bulbasaur is a Grass and Poison Type specimen. Due to this type combination, Bulbasaur is resistant to Grass, Water, Electric, Fighting, and Fairy Type specimens, so players should avoid bringing these into such matchups. However, Bulbasaur is also weak to Flying, Ice, Psychic, and Fire Types – so Trainers should implement such specimens into their team to go up against Bulbasaur when possible.
Bulbasaur receives increased power during Sunny and Cloudy weather due to the
Weather Boost mechanic
– so Trainers may want to take this into consideration and potentially avoid battles in such locations if possible.
Dynamax Bulbasaur Counters in Pokemon GO
In Max Battles, Trainers are limited to using Dynamax Pokemon, which significantly restricts the amount of available counters when going up against Max Battle Bosses. Thankfully, There are still some very solid options to consider when attempting to counter Dynamax Bulbasaur, which have been outlined below.
- Dynamax Charmander / Dynamax Charmeleon / Dynamax Charizard are some of the best Pokemon to bring with you, due to their Fire Typing and ability to use powerful moves of this attribute.
- Dynamax Scorbunny / Dynamax Raboot / Dynamax Cinderace are also suitable for the same reasons as Charizard, making them some of the best choices to consider.
- Dynamax Beldum / Dynamax Metang / Dynamax Metagross have a Psychic Dual-Typing, which makes them capable of dealing super effective damage against Dynamax Bulbasaur.
- Dynamax Falinks has a pure Fighting Type, which Dynamax Bulbasaur is vulnerable to, making it quite a strong counter.
- In the case that none of the other counters are available to you, Normal Types such as Dynamax Skwovet, Dynamax Greedent, Dynamax Woolo, and Dynamax Dubwool can still get the job done with a careful approach.
