MOONTON Games has announced that they will finally introduce the Match Rewind feature in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the future, following an M6 match incident where this feature could have solved the situation.
MLBB is working on the Match Rewind feature for future tournaments
The M6 World Championship has begun, and the Wild Card Stages are currently underway showcasing fierce competition from various rookie teams. However, on November 23, a technical issue occurred during Match 12 of the Wild Card Stage between DIANFENGYAOGUAI (DFYG) and ULFHEDNAR (ULF).
In game 3 of their match-up, one of the players from DFYG faced a technical issue that caused him to briefly lose control of his hero, resulting in his hero’s death. Although he informed the referee and his device was restored, MLBB had to proceed with the game without a rematch, as the tournament client doesn’t yet have a rewind feature.
We at GamingonPhone had an opportunity to speak with MOONTON Games about the possibility of introducing the rewind feature for competitive games for future tournaments. They confirmed that the feature is currently in development and will be arriving shortly. Moreover, they have already implemented strict measures to ensure that this issue doesn’t reoccur during the ongoing M6 Championship.
They made an announcement on Facebook regarding the situation, stating that a match rewind feature could have resolved the issue, as the incident didn’t meet the necessary criteria for a remake according to the MLBB M6 World Championship 2024 Official Rulebook. As a result, they had to continue the match based on the tournament protocol.
However, I believe they could have made an exemption for this incident, as this was clearly management’s error. Receiving pop-up notifications on a tournament device is something beyond the players’ hands. Even the MLBB community is not happy with this situation and how MLBB is handling the situation. That said, I am happy now that they are finally bringing this feature, as this was very much needed for official tournaments.
