Netflix’s Arcane star Ella Purnell has admitted that she might get a little bit too carried away when playing the role of Jinx in the sound booth, which leads to some hilarious and painful sounding action scenes in real life. For anyone who loves animated shows with a grittier edge, incredible visuals, and a stellar story, Netflix’s Arcane will certainly be high on the list. The animated series is set in the League of Legends universe and produced by Riot Games and Fortiche Production. Following the news that the second season would be Arcane‘s last season, Ella Purnell, who voices Jinx, has rushed to defend her character from people calling her a villain.
Appearing on Afterglow, Purnell stated that she didn’t see Jinx as a villain at all, further humanizing the character by saying that she thinks there’s a “monster in all of us.” Purnell also puts into perspective that Jinx came from a really troubled upbringing because she was raised by Silco, expressing that her self-hatred came from having to kill both her dads and that kind of trauma “can be very destabilizing.” Purnell also said she felt sorry for Jinx, which probably only deepened her connection to the blue-haired rebel.

Arcane: 8 Best Ella Purnell Roles, Ranked
Ella Purnell has proven herself to be an incredibly talented actor on multiple occasions. Here are some of her best roles.
Ella Purnell Broke a Sound Booth While Playing Jinx in Arcane
When asked by Ekko’s actor, Reed Shannon, during Arcane’s Afterglow show about how Ella Purnell brought Jinx and Vander’s Act 2 chaotic fight scenes to life, Christian Linke, who is the co-producer for Arcane, quickly jumped in to say “Destruction of the vocal booths.” Laughing at Linke’s response, Purnell replied that she likes to give it her all in the recording room and becomes quite animated herself, giving her role as Jinx an extra level of enthusiasm “I do karate chop movements in my booth, make sounds and occasionally break things.”
Aside from playing Jinx, Purnell has had a fantastic few years so far by starring in the likes of the post-apocalyptic drama television series, Fallout. She also had a short-lived role in season one of Yellowjackets as Jackie, although there are some rumors that she might, in some fashion, make a ghostly return in season three. Recently, Purnell took on the role of Rhiannon in Sweetpea, which tells the story of a quiet admin assistant who had been bullied throughout her childhood, but due to her father’s death, her whole life then shifts, seeing her take on a more revengeful, villainous demeanor.
Arcane season two may now be over, but fans of the series’ League of Legends lore shouldn’t feel sad for too long. According to Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill, more shows will come after Arcane that will tell the stories of other characters within its universe. So, at least for now, Arcane fans will just have to wait and see what’s in store for the franchise’s future projects but they certainly sound exciting.
